If you choose more a relationship that is complicated, passionate, and at times, messy, you'd choose Spike. I don't think either are right or wrong, it's preference. I am a wholehearted Spuffy lover through and through, but I think we all need different types of relationships in our lives to

I might be in the minority, but I can see both sides of why readers choose between Spuffy or Bangel. The choice comes down to this: If you like the whole harlequin-type romance of being swept off your feet and you needing a man to protect you from all the nasties in the world, you go with Angel.

Sabershadowkat writes Willow/Angel that I like. I didn't think I would, but it's pretty enjoyable. And Cangel was a great match. If only it hadn't gotten blown to smithereens by all of canon fighting against it.

Totally agree with you on both Angel's development and Cangel. Love Cangel! In a strange twist, my friend and myself absolutely love Spuffy. It's who we pair Angel with that is different. I love him Cordy, she prefers Darla.

Didn't want this to take a Bangel bashing turn, but yeah, Angel was pretty one-dimensional during his run on Buffy, but all of his interesting qualities manifest during his spin-off show (#Cangel4lyfe).

never liked bangel...even when the forehead first appeared, i never liked him, he was too broody & frowny, unlike when they introduced spike, he was very interesting & unpredictable, anyway, am not ashamed to say i'm a spuffy shipper 😝

My sister-in-law ships Bangel. I started gushing about Spike right as she started about Angel.. Awkward... I almost had to call off the wedding when I found out what craziness I was marrying into =). Everyone guesses that I'm a Spuffy shipper though. Apparently I have a type.

Personally, I've only met a few Bangel fans and I happily co-exist with one (for the most part, I still have to tilt my head and wonder about her). However, most of the people I have met ship Spuffy. Which just makes me what to hug and friend them for life. (Me: you like my OTP! LET ME LOVE YOU!)

Like, I have a friend is in the process of watching Buffy, and I don't want to tell her my preferences until she's done. And I met someone justyesterday who actually seemed to love the show as much as me, but obviously hated Spuffy so I had to suppress a lot of my opinions and the urge to thump her.

Honestly, I haven't met too many Buffy watchers who have seen the show within the last four years. Most of them love Spike but sketchy about Spuffy. One or two do ship Spike and Buffy. Regardless, I'm scared of being judged because they think its problematic, for the obvious reasons.
