He’s been building trust with Buffy and realizing he likes working with the Slayer. Recently, he helped Buffy when Faith took over her body and her sister, Dawn, mysteriously arrived. Giles, Buffy, and Spike know Dawn is the Key and Spike and Buffy know they are Dawn’s metaphysical parents. When Faith kidnapped Dawn, Spike stopped at nothing to get her back, almost killing Faith. He thought Buffy would stake him or make him leave Sunnydale, since he is not safe, but Buffy thinks he’s being too hard on himself. He and Buffy have begun to recognize their growing feelings for each other.
