Happy new year! 2017 was another amazing year here at Elysian Fields. In honor of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's 20th anniversary, we hosted our reunion challenge, which produced over 40 new stories. Also, we added some fun new emoticons thanks to EffulgentEllie, we passed 200,000 reviews and 100,000,000 words for stories we host, and we briefly considered switching themes to become the first ever Rangel site.
Not ones to rest on our laurels, we're keeping things fresh for 2018 and adding 2 new skins. The time in between features a stunning new banner from Amy, and dead poets society showcases a stunning banner from javajunkie247. Remember that to set your default skin, you need to head over to the Edit Preferences page in your Account Information. Since the holidays are over, we'll be retiring our holiday skin until next December. Thanks to nmcil for creating the banner and giving us some holiday spirit.

This is so cool!!! I love the new skins - thanks Amy and Javajunkie!! I found this website in July of 2017 and man did my life change!! I just want to say thank you to the site administrators, all the amazingly talented writers and their faithful betas, the banner artists who bring us a snapshot of our favorite stories and all the other members for being awesome and welcoming. I can’t believe I wrote that many words in my reviews but it’s because you are all so inspiring! 
Congrats to everyone who contributed to our little community with fic, banner art and reviews this past year. May 2018 be even greater.
I am so impressed with everyone's hard work and creativity, but I'm especially wowed by OffYourBird and Sunalso for making the top 10 in writing AND reviewing! That's dedication to the community, right there. I applaud you both.
Question for the admins: is there a way to tabulate how many members logged in at some point during 2017? I'm really curious to know how many of our members are "active"
OffYourBird, I had to dig into the database for this one, but it looks like we had 5699 active members (active meaning they logged in at some point) during 2017.
