When Buffy dies in "The Gift", Spike becomes so lost in grief that he turns feral. He wears his demon face, growls, etc.

Dawn prevents Xander and Giles from staking him. Spike ends up living in the basement while Dawn, Willow and Tara end up looking after him over the summer. 

Spike comforts Dawn with affectionate nuzzles and hugs. 

When Buffy is resurrected, it's Spike who finds her. She's in silent depression mode like she was during “Bargaining”, and feral Spike keeps her in the basement with him until she snaps out of it.

Would like it if Spike if overprotective of Buffy, which includes growling at anyone he deems a threat coming near her, like Xander, Angel, and maybe even Willow and Giles.

Both Buffy and Spike have to eventually come back to themselves, but Buffy is first and she realizes just how much Spike's demon loves her. 

Please don't include any season 6 melodrama or any unhealthy Spuffy.
