I started writing fan fiction about 20 years ago. Took a MAJOR break of around 14 years and got inspired to start writing again when I got hooked on the only show since Buffy that captured my heart, Lucifer.
I began publishing on AO3 in 2019 and reading avidly. One morning I woke up with an idea for a short, super smutty crossover fic with Lucifer and Buffy. I actually went into work on my day off and wrote it in about 3 hours.
I started reading Spuffy fics on AO3 because, well, Spuffy!
I read Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Sunalso. Her writing far surpassed anything I'd read in the realm of Lucific. I was hooked. I read everything by her and her cohort in crime, Gort. I also picked up on touchstoneaf. Again, blown away by the talent.
An offhand comment made by sun in reply to something I said on one of her fics led me on a search for EF...what was this mysterious EF? I googled "Elysian Fields Buffy" and booyah!!! My addiction to Elysian Fields began. I thanked sun for inadvertently leading me here and she gave me a list of authors to "start with" I quickly realized this was my new happy place and the authors on this site were far superior to most modern published works.
I am seriously overwhelmed by the way everyone supports each other and always has the most positive attitude.
I began uploading my own Spuffy stories in 2020. While the first few I uploaded were unbeta'd, I quickly realized the value of having 2nd and 3rd eyes to look things over and it has made a huge difference in my own stories. I'm grateful for everyone who has ever beta read, offered suggestions and critiqued any of my stories before I hit the publish button.
I am also super thankful for the artists who create beautiful banners and spend hours perfecting an image for a story.
Since finding this place, I not only fell down the rabbit hole, I dove in so deeply and thoroughly, twisting and turning and chasing those plot bunnies and muse...uh musings that I may never find my way out, but that's ok. I feel like I'm finally home.
