Yes another time traveling Spike idea but this one has a different method that just came too me suddenly.
A matching set of jewelry
What if the amulet Spike wore during the Hellmouth battle had been magically linked to the Gem of Amara centuries ago? And seeing how Spike has worn both of them when he was sucked into the Amulet it linked him back to the past when he had the Gem.
So after getting dusted the Amulet sends Spike back to the past (soul and all) to the day he put the Gem on.
