Characters: Buffy, Spike
Summary:
(Author's choice of title)
In Crush, Dru unarguably wrecked any possibility of Spuffy working by getting Spike flush with human blood and seducing him back to the dark side. But Dawn spilling the beans about his crush put Buffy on her guard, too. Without being put on her guard in the first place, Spike's attempt at a polite date and seduction... well... it MIGHT have gone better. So that's the challenge. If neither Dru nor Dawn had put their oar in to the Spuffy, how would Spike's little date have worked? Could Buffy have been warmer to him if it had happened sort of spontaneously?
Plot notes:
Can't have the "date" be for the same reason, because Dru's the one who killed the people on the train. Spike would need another excuse.
Can't have OOC Buffy saying, "Oh, of course I love you too, Spike! Let's get it on!" reaction. Dawn spilled the beans and put Buffy on her guard, but it's still not an idea Buffy's been nurturing.
Spike also wasn't planning on flat out saying he was in love immediately, either, and only admitted it when Buffy trapped him into it. He'd be playing it more coy, himself. "Do you want it to be?"
Can have --
Slow smoldering seduction
Raising questions without answering them
One surprise kiss. (Either with a lot of build up into something that works, or a WTF! reaction from Buffy)
And as always with my challenges, no claim.
