Experience: I have beta'd for more than five stories and a couple of these partnerships were with repeat authors. However, all this work was in a different fandom.
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read: No incest or Buffy being sexually abused as a child.
Additional Comments: I have read Spuffy for years now and it would be great to be able to give back to the community in this way. I read a lot of BDSM and stories with those smut scenes would be more than welcome. I am not the person to go to if you want help with canon, you probably know it better than I do. An area where I have a specific intense level of knowledge is historical dress, from the Victorian period till the 1940’s. I have only used Google Docs to beta in my past experiences.

Experience: I don't have any beta experience, but I have always been the go-to gal for my family and friends for writing help (re: resumes, letters, school essays, and creative writing.)  I don't miss much when it comes to grammar and spelling, but I do have some comma issues.
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read: I can't think of anything I would not beta.
Additional Comments: My knowledge of the show and the comics is pretty encyclopedic, and I have all of the comics and the show on DVD that I can double-check for canon elements.  I have not watched AtS (yet!), but I know quite a bit from reading fanfic for so long.  I'm not the most creative person, but I'd love to participate in fandom more by being a beta!
The best way to get a hold of me initially is through a PM on the site - after initial contact is made I will know to check my gmail regularly.

Experience: My beta experience was primarily in the Captain Swan fandom while the show was airing, so it's been a while since I've worked in an active fandom. I have done early reads for professional authors, however, and I have experience as an ARC reviewer for genre fiction.
I teach in the liberal arts at the college level so I have a reasonable grasp of standard American English grammar and mechanics and can probably handle British English in a pinch. My background as an academic is in history and philosophy so I can help with history or world building.
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read: I'm not comfortable with reading for sexual assault, BDSM, underage (outside of canon), incest, or strong dub-con. Some dub-con stories are ok. Ask me.
I don't want to read Buffy or Dawn getting turned.
I'm not interested in all human at all.
Additional Comments: I gravitate to stories that focus on character building over straight adventure or extremely sweet stories. I also prefer stories where Buffy is a young adult or older (post-Chosen).
I'm not as familiar with Angel as I didn't watch the series and really only know it through Spuffy fic.
I was an adult during the show airing period so I remember that time (late 90s and early aughts) reasonably well. I also watched the show in real time if that is a help to anyone.
I read and comment quickly but I may not be able to get to something right away if my grading and teaching load is heavy that week. If you need some feedback quickly just ask me. I do communicate quickly and will not leave anyone in the dark.

Experience: I'm new to Beta-ing and looking to get my feet wet! I've published academic material in my past life as a graduate candidate, so I have a pretty good handle on grammar, punctuation, writing mechanics, etc.
Also, I've lived in both the US and the UK for several years which affords me an additional level of competency and insight in regards to dialogue, idioms, colloquialisms, and cultural idiosyncrasies for both.
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read: I'm very open to most anything your mind can dream up!

Experience:  I have no official experience, but I am constantly reading. I read a book a day, and I couldn't put a number on the amount of fanfics I have read.
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read:
Additional Comments: I read an insane amount of buffy (spuffy) fanfic and want to become more a part of the community. I know Buffy lore inside and out. Also, I have really good spelling and grammar - I keep finding mistakes in fully published books lately and I'm like ??

Experience: this is actually my first experience in fanfiction (if you exclude a brief period in the Harry Potter fandom), but I really enjoy editing essays and occasionally do so for some of my friends. I am not a native english speaker (i'm Italian), but I do have a certified Cambridge C2 and read a lot of stuff in english- I love this language SO much- from fanfiction to novels to scientific studies, and I am generally considered a good writer, both in my mother tongue and in English.
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read: I'm not really into angst and dark fics, but will read some if needed. The one things I absolutely refuse to edit are baby fics; children gross me out, sorry :)
Additional Comments: As i've said, I'm Italian, so any author that wants to include some dialogue in that language is welcome to contact me for some tips; I am also open to checking some latin/ (ancient) greek, as both are mandatory subjects in my school, but i promise no results. I do krav maga (i.e. a kind of street fighting created in the Israelian military), so I know something about fighting, but I am by no means an expert. Lastly, I have an interest in historical fashion, and have done some research on the topic, even some inspired by Spuffy fanfic I found on this archive (one especially which featured the famous last royal ball in the winter Palace, in 1903, and described the costumes as late 18th century french ballgowns even though the theme of the Ball was Russian traditional dress. Still remember that); i'm also willing to do more research, according to what's needed.
feel free to ask me anything, even something about a small detail or about the two lines of Italian you included in your fic; i hope what little knowledge i have will be helpful

Experience:
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read:
  • I'd rather not beta any POV stories.
  • Also the less AtS characters in a story, the better (except for Lorne, he makes everything better)
  • No Buffy/other, Spike/other sex scenes pls.
  • No babyfics and/or all human fics!
  • Preferably no stories with vampire Buffy and/or human Spike (I might be convinced if it's a shorter story)
