Experience: My beta reading experience is limited as far as fan fiction is concerned. I have done a little for writers for other shows like Merlin (2012). However, my professional work is research based. As such, I have more than 15 years of experience editing and peer reviewing other people’s writing, and have collaborated extensively on papers and articles in my field. I imagine that my professional experience may prove useful as a beta reader.
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read:
Additional Comments: I watched all 144 episodes of BtVS and all 110 episodes of  Angel: The Series as they aired. I also purchased all of the DVD box sets as they were released and watched them all again. I have been a Buffy fan since the 1992 film, and a Spuffy fan since the Season 2 BtVS finale, “Becoming Parts 1 and 2.” I also own and have read all of the canon comics (I was already a comic book collector so it was a simple matter of expanding my pull list).
Suffice it to say, I know a lot about BtVS, its lore, and the world building.
I have a keen interest in stories that expand and enhance aspects of the BtVS world building that were not as well fleshed out in canon. (e.g. The Guardians, The Council of Watchers, Order of Aurelius, etc.) It’s why I love stories like “Life Hard” and “The Darkling” and the WIP “Hindsight” If you need help exploring concepts, research support, or proofreading/editing support, I am happy to help. Feel free to reach out to me here. You can also DM me on the Elysian Fields and/or the Sunnydale After Dark Discords.

Experience: None so far!
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read: I will basically beta anything that does not include drawn out scenes of rape, incest, underage sex, etc--you get the gist. If these things are mentioned briefly and necessary for the plot, that's ok. Happy to do all kinds of AUs, especially historical!

I also have not read the comics and haven't yet seen the last few seasons of Angel, so while I'm still happy to beta things that include these, I won't be much help with accuracy to canon there.
Additional Comments: I have experience copy-editing when I was in high school and college. I wasn't an English major, but I was in a writing-heavy discipline. I am an especially good option for historical AUs as I have a lot of random history knowledge and I love researching! I'm applying to grad school for fashion history so I can definitely make sure you get the outfits right :)

Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read: I don't like reading smut/porn without plot.
Additional Comments: I'm currently between jobs so if you just want feedback real quick I'm probably a good choice. I'm alright at catching little grammar errors and if it's less than 10k I'll probably respond within a day.

Experience: Just finished my first fic, and the beta I worked with (NellinHell) was an absolute lifesaver, so now I understand how important this is! Not an experienced fiction writer, but a very experienced writer for tech and comms, so I'm great at trimming and sharpening at the sentence level, killing your darlings and generally focusing stories. I've read an awful lot of Spuffy fic.
Would love to help your story emerge!
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read: I'm probably going to be much, much better at supporting plot-driven and epic action stories than I am on Porn with/without Plot stories. I'm not a fan of all-human, baby fic, or claim stories.
I won't edit stories with underage sex, incest or other illegal sexual topics. Discussions of non-con are okay, if they are depicted in a sensitive and informed manner.
Additional Comments: I'm pretty broadly read, particularly in the areas of folklore, mythology and classics, so I love to suggest places for parallels or echoes of those in fic. I'm a sucker for a story easter egg, whether it's a reference to canon or pop-culture, and I have tons of good ideas for creative story situations - hopefully you can see that from my fic 'World Enough, and Time'.
Beyond that, I studied at Oxford, so can provide facts and authenticity for Giles or Spike elements that concern Oxbridge. I'm an exhibiting landscape painter, and my day job is in industrial science, so I can provide context from either the art or the academic/science worlds.

Experience: Hi! I am currently beta'ing for both lex_hex and violettathepiratequeen, but as we enter summer, I'm always eager to work with some new writers! I served as a literary journal editor for 3 years and currently work as a writing counselor for a University Admissions Department. I am an experienced writer with an obsessive knowledge of BTVS/ATS canon!
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read:
Additional Comments: I have a degree in music, so if you're working on any songfics or music-inspired works, I'm your girl!
I have conversational French skills, and some Hebrew/Yiddish knowledge, if those are things you need.
I also have an uncanny ability to recall specific lines, scenes, and details from both Buffy and Angel (trust me, ask Lizzy lex_hex, it's kinda freaky!). If you're working out plot points, or want to emphasize foreshadowing with dialogue, I won't let you down.
I'm a 22-year old college grad starting a MA in Gender Studies, so I'm "hip with the times," as they say. American pop culture/music/media references are kinda my thing.
I prefer to use Google Docs, and I use both the Comment and Suggestion features in that software. I can also edit with Word docs, whatever works best for you!

Experience: I am a total beginner with fanfiction, but interested in trying my hand here. I am great with punctuation, spelling and grammar. My only real editing experience, aside from helping my kids with homework (after homeschooling for 7 years) was assisting my husband with his college papers when he was finishing up his degree a few years ago.
I'd prefer to start with relatively short stories or chapters, as I have not done this before.
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read: Crossover fic, unless it is with AtS. I am unlikely to be familiar with other shows.
Additional Comments: I am more familiar with BtVS than Angel, but have a general grasp of AtS, just not the fine details. Familiarity with Ramones songs & punk bands. :)

Experience: Beta work for Daybreak, by KiranInBlue (128,997 words), a Buffy Season 8 rewrite:
  • characterization,
  • canon elements,
  • general impressions.
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read: --
Additional Comments: I'm owner of the blog The Comic Slayer, in which I answer doubts and share various information about the comics. I'm helpful with research on canon storyline, characterization based on actual development, minor details the comic may have added, etc.

Experience: I am fairly new to this but would love to try and get more involved in this amazing community. I promise I'm a fast learner.
Story types/topics I will not beta or sensitivity read: Don't particularly like time travel elements as it's a very complicated subject and from a scientific perspective, a lot can feel off if it's not done correctly.
Additional Comments: I'm a scientist and mathematician through and through. Meaning I'm very precise, to the point, and not a fan of contradictions. And I only give constructive feedback - and in a very nice manner. Also, all you authors out there are amazing and inspiring!
