I came late to Buffy, just about two years ago. Coming from another fandom that always referenced BtVS and especially Spike, I decided to give it a try, but was determined not to like that guy.
Yeah, well. The second the deSoto crashed into the 'Welcome to Sunnydale' sign and a black boot stomped out of the car, I was lost.
Spike's journey and Spike and Buffy's journey is IMO the most beautiful thing ever shown on TV.
There's not a season I don't like, but I absolutely love seasons 5 - 7. I'm convinced that Spike desperately needed his soul, not for Buffy, but for himself. I loved the daring way the writers made him see that. And I'm also convinced that Buffy never could've loved him without the soul.
That doesn't mean that I'm not enjoying a well written fic where it happens. And I'm glad that there are a lot of them out there.
About me:
I'm a mother of four, living alone with my children, and a teacher at elementary school. That doesn't leave me as much time as I would like to have to read and write. Bummer.
