Summary: Buffy hates Spike and Spike can’t stand Buffy. Right? Ever since Willow’s ‘my will be done’ spell, the vampire and slayer have been plagued with thoughts and dreams of their supposed mortal enemy. And neither of them know what to do about it. When Joyce Summers receives a mystery visit from someone in the know, and learns a little about the possible future, the slayer’s mother is set to work – playing matchmaker. Love, love, love this story!
You capture the nuances of both early season Spike & Buffy beautifully here. I have to say i'm not typically huge fan of "claiming" stories and I don't easily find myself buying early season Spuffy, but I'm sold on this! You've set up a very believable situation, and the plot fits perfectly.
And it's <i>sooo</i> good to see you writing again!

Deeply cute chapter. I love Buffy's flirtation with Brian, and Spike's ruining it. Hee! I can *so* easily picture that!

I've just re-read this story; it really is one of my all-time favorites. Such a vivid look at a possible post-chosen future. Xander breaks my heart every time! And you have to be the only writer ever to make my sympathize with Kennedy.

I remember reading this when you and Lilith posted it the first time. It seemed liked years that poor little William was held by Thing One and Uncle Nate. I reread this as a whole document this time and was glad to see that you did resolve that one. Genuinely enjoyed this story! It looks to me like you’re wrapping this one up? It’s one of those stories I always assumed would remain unfinished. At this point you have resolved the main stories in a satisfying way, and I’m delighted.
BTW you do an excellent & very believable job describing trauma and recovery from PTSD for Buffy, and most especially for William. The description of Buffy at the mall was particularly visceral. I’m not remotely agoraphobic but found myself cringing for her!

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed rereading this story. I remember reading it back in the day, but there are a couple chapters that are new to me. It’s a really unique take on post season 6 and early season 7; I’m sorry you never felt moved to write more. It’s fabulous as it is but that is one cruel, cruel place to leave the story!

Cute story! I keep coming back to Buffy's "8 inch heels to adorn her perfectly long legs". Huh, don't think that's possible by the laws of physics. Wouldn't that be longer than Buffy's actual feet?

Author's Response: LMAO! i meant like 8 inches off the ground.. think stilletos. I used to be a dancer, so im just puitting alot of myself in this one.
Summary: Just a bit of escapist mostly-fluff set in a slightly alternate season four.
Spike is chipped, pissed off, and missing a poker partner. Buffy is confused, pissed off, and just can't seem to find that lovin' feeling. They're both out looking for some therapeutic violence, but the only enemies around... are each other. It's Sunnydale in the year 2000 and thanks to the not-so-fine work of the Initiative there are no demons anywhere to be found. Including poor, kidnapped Clem.
Instead of a fight, it looks like a reluctant Buffy has found herself a rescue mission.

In the US we usually call the "ski masks", though I know the term "Balaclava" too. Oddly enough, my *actual* ski mask is made of neoprene and polar fleece!
This story is just wonderfully fun, and your write the heck out of Buffy. I hope you're feeling inspired, and have time to write, because I'm so, so hooked on this story!
Author's Response: Everyone's so eager to help out on the ski mask thing, I love it! My balaclava (or apparently, my ski mask) is fleece as well and probably purple, although I may not admit to that ;)
I'm definitely hoping to have quite a bit of free time for the next while, so we'll see what happens. :D

Damn, you write the heck out of Buffy! Absolutely gorgeous writing here; you get in her head beautifully. Her diologue is perfect; I'm in awe!
