I am a language fanatic. Putting ideas, errant commas, or dangling modifiers into their rightful place is almost as satisfying as good dark chocolate. I love stories, but most stories need polished to shine. I don't write myself, so now I've harnessed the power of language to help others find their voice, and deliver their message cohesively.
I was the kid who spent recess reading a book, who stayed up all night reading with a flashlight under the covers. What started as a love of stories at an early age, developed into a love of language as an adult. With over 10 years of experience editing in a variety of professional settings, I have grown to love helping others convey their ideas.
If not working, I'm most likely exploring the beautiful American wilderness, in a cuddle puddle with my two cat babies and husband, swooning over Spike in all of his lovely iterations here on EF, or any combo of the above.
I am relatively new to BtVS, having only discovered the series last fall. I'm very new to fanfic, this is the first community I've ever been a part of (and I'm starting to suspect I'm very spoiled by how wonderful everyone here is). Yet, now that I'm working full time in marketing, I've been missing working with fiction. Beta'ing for the talented writers here on EF fuels my passion for wordsmithing while satiating my Spuffy cravings. It's really the best of both worlds. Feel free to contact me if you're looking for a new beta, let's see if it's a fit.

What a lovely one shot! It would make sense that his hunger would make him, well devolve, for lack of a better word. I think Spike being chipped was a big turning point in how she saw the world. It marked a moment where things became less black and white. And, it was a marked moment in their UST.
You captured all of that well!
In the perfect 1950s All-American Christian Suburban community of Sunnydale, California, Buffy Summers lived without any troubles. She's in college, a typical American girl stuck in the monotony of suburban life and repression. But what happens when single, bad boy greaser Spike moves to town and turns the uptight Leave it to Beaver community upside down?

I'd forgotten how many wonderful phrases came out of this era. I'm going to be referring to things as the "best thing since sliced bread" all week. I don't know how I never drew a parallel between Spike and James Dean before, but I totally see it.
Thank you so much for resolving the Hanky Lanky story. I was so worried it was going to end up as a cheese man thing. What perfect synchronicity. I appreciate the symmetry, and the obvious love between Joyce and Hank. You needed it for this, divorce would've been too alienating.
I have to say, I am a tiny but surprised you didn't go for the whole Grease makeover bit, especially given that you'd hyped up Buffy's dreams of being a flag girl. I'm not mad about it though, I think it may have seemed ... overdone? Or just predictable?
Also, was Spike supposed to be a beat poet? I want it to be true because so many of those poems were thematically about life and loss.
Great work, as always. Thank you.

Oh my. I am actually blushing. I should have known better than to read this on my lunch break!! 😶 This is, well there's no getting around it, HOT. Well done.
But in general, I'm enjoying the story, their banter, the silly scenario and situation they have been placed in. I feel it's right for where they were. I am not even mad about character deaths, it makes things a little easier.
I hope you don't mind if I say that you are channeling Andrew with the intro/recaps, which I love. Overall, thank you for writing something that has been just downright fun to read.

Oh my. As most of my male friends are D&D nerds and sci-fi geeks I am so on board with the William/Wes/Andrew club. As a fellow nerd myself, I'm loving all the references and can't wait to see how Buffy takes to a tabletop rpg. This is delightful.

I keep having the strangest dream. Every night it's the same thing: a dark room, a big bed, and a silent vampire that I can feel, but not see. I'd be wigged, except it's just a dream, right? It'll be a cold day in hell before I ever willingly sleep with a vampire again...

Well, I wasn't sure where the excitable bit was going to come in, but then I've always been a sucker for Spike as a grease monkey. It of course doesn't help that I've been a fan of tail fins since I was young enough to get my first toy car. Either way, yum! And YAY! Finally!
I finished this days ago, and I haven't stopped thinking about it. Little snippets of story keep popping back into my brain to make me giggle, make my heart hurt, make me drool a little, and most of all make me fall in love with Spuffy all over again.
Everything you did was so intentionally tied back to the mythology. I loved every little easter egg (that I caught, as I'm sure there were others I had not). It was incredible, it was epic, it was romantic, tragic, exhilarating: everything a fairytale ought to be.
Thank you for gifting it to us.
When Dawn makes the ultimate sacrifice to save her sister, friends, and the world, Buffy’s mind snaps. When Buffy's friends give up hope of her ever recovering, and become afraid that she’ll turn violent and uncontrollable, they call in the Council to help. Fearing what the Council will do, Spike, forgotten and ignored by her friends, steps in. Will he be able to reach the Slayer when no one else could? Will he be able to keep her out of the hands of the Council and away from her ‘helpful’ friends? How much heartbreak, guilt, and failure can one girl stand before her indestructible spirit finally resigns the fight and gives up hope?

The music analogy is incredible. "He was Stradivari himself." That, and the paragraphs following may be some of the best fic writing I've encountered. Well done maestro.
Wow! What a compliment! Thank you so much!
... ... Wow is right.
Okay, real words. I have those, and even use them occasioanlly. Is it a weird compliment to tell someone you love their similies? Well I do.
And really, can you blame the girl? If someone were presented with the option to meditate by focusing on candles or Spike's body while he provides earth-shattering orgasms, who is going to choose a votive!?
Awww William Wesley! I love it. Where is the abnormal brain pic from?
Also, beautiful song!
"Abby Normal" or the abnormal brain is from the movie 'Young Frankenstein' with Gene Wilder. A classic, BTW!
I can't believe I forgot about that! But then, it's been ten years or so since I watched it. It's one of the few Mel Brooks movies I haven't seen multiple times.
"Gastrointestinal ecstasy" I can relate to this. Thanks for giving me the language to describe that feeling. I can say I've ever had it about McDonald's...In'N'Out maybe. But if I were stuck in a land without cheeseburgers I could understand.
"Phillistines" - haha, you can tell she's been hanging out with Spike. Her vocabulary reflects that.
Thank you. I was hoping that this would all circle back this way. You're so right. Despite wanting revenge, she wouldn't be able to live with it. It really is a gift for him to have taken that on for her. I'm sure it killed him he couldn't do it himself though.
God. For as much of a romantic as he is, Spike sure is an idiot sometimes. You couldn't be more accurate in Buffy's disdain for Disney. It's frustrating to have a lifetime of unrealistic romantic notions forcefed to you while you are shsping your worldview. However, though he has his work cut out for him I imagine Spike can stand up to the challenge of an over the top romantic proposal.
I love their fight. It's perfect.
Also, the pictures in this were spot on.
So glad you're enjoying it! Thanks so much for all your wonderful reviews!!
William has spent his adult life satisfying Drusilla's every whim and desire, but her latest whim involves getting married - and not to him. Alone now, he somehow finds himself Buffy's tutor. Although he enjoys their lessons, what he really wants is her. Will he be able to let her go when the time comes?

This was really well delivered. I feel like (despite the categorizations) I went into this expecting smut because of the premise, and by the end of it found myself so caught up in the plot it moved me to tears.
I don't know if this was the intention, but I also feel like much of the foray into the world of kink was explained in an almost educational format. As if I was learning with Buffy, you know? I thought it was very well handled.
I love the idea of using their vampire nature as alternate dark personas. I think that allows you to address the duality of their characters in an all human fic in a way that many others don't. It allows you to explore both Liam and William as men, while still maintaining an element of them as Angel/us and Spike as we know and love them. Although I have to say, Liam in this story is much less of the womanizing drunkard with daddy issues than he is made out to be in cannon. I assume you were trying to write him closer to Angel (with all of the sweet, brooding, manipulative first love angst). Given that you brought up everyone else's parents/family relationships, and even introduced therapy, is there a reason you avoided Liam's family challenges?
I'm only a little sad that we don't get to witness Buffy dump Liam's ass, and his reaction to her admitting her love for William. Selfishly so, because I feel it was the right choice for the story. I was worried about how to tie it all together and give them a fresh start, and I think you handled it well. I like to think there are PTBs in all human fics that sent Willow out to get a specific tie. Though if you ever make any edits, maybe just a flashback to conversation between Buffy and Liam? I just need him to know what a ponce he is.
Anyway, thank you for writing this. I loved it.
Life has not always been easy for Spike and Buffy. Yet through it all they have had one another. That is until one tragic event tears them apart. Will they find their way back to one another? Their story starts with two lonely kids and one amazing friendship. That sweet little friendship develops into something that neither of them could ever have dreamed of.

I was wondering how you would introduce Spike's new look. I feel a high school emotional breakdown and opportunity to reinvent himself is the perfect catalyst for his emotional reveal and Buffy's change in attitude and attraction toward him.
I'm a little surprised Xander isn't more sympathetic toward William; he knows what it's like.
So much happened in this chapter!
Poor Buffy. It's not an uncommon story, for a twenager to lose their virginity to someone because they feel like they ought to or to have that person later disrepct them. It's what made the canonical story so compelling; sleeping with someone and having them turn into a monster is an unfortunately common experience.
Poor Spike. Thank god Buffy had the foresight to call Giles. He would have been placed in the system and Buffy might not have seen him again.
Thsnk goodness they've finally talked it out. I think I literally sighed with relief when she said Angel who.
