Summary: It was a sticky kind of heat. The kind whose fingers crawled on your skin, hair, and nostrils leaving you itchy and irritated all over. A sickening kind of thing which drove all with good sense back inside their well-insulated homes, with its goosebump giving AC.
But that was something Sunnydalians had never had, good sense. For good sense would mean never living on a hellmouth, never roaming in darkened alleys, and absolutely, positively, never, EVER attending a mysteriously appearing carnival. And what a pity that would be for the creatures who lurked at night.
See my pretties, Sunnydale was the exact sort of place one found themselves, when they were in dire need of fumbling minions or innocent victims. Which was why, on one late summer afternoon, the great Carnival of Dromen had opened their faded purple gates to the locals.
Little did the owner know he would come to regret his decision greatly, for among the senseless townspeople was the Slayer and her vampire.
