Summary: While in Prague, Drusilla prophesied the return of Angelus by the loss of his soul. Spike decides that for Angelus to be stopped once and for all, he's going to have to get his hands dirty, so he goes to Sunnyhell, California in hopes of hunting down the new Slayer and offering a temporary truce. Can Buffy be convinced to trust the Slayer of Slayers? When everything she thought she understood about her calling feels uncertain, where can she go from here?

Story Notes: In this canon divergent reimagining of s2, Spike and Drusilla didn't come to Sunnydale together. Instead, Spike comes to California alone the day after the events of Buffy's birthday. As a result, past and future circumstances might look a bit different, but the general framework should be relatively unchanged!
