This was written for the 2015 Fag Ends Halloween Challenge.  For those of you unfamiliar with Fag Ends, it's a prompt-based Spuffy community where posts are required to be under 1000 words.  You can cheat a little by stringing together a series of prompts to form a longer story, which is what I've done here.  The story is quite short (~3000 words), but I'm going to post it in its original eight 'chapters'.

WARNING:  This is angst with a capital ANGST.  If you want a fluffy Spuffy ending, you won't find it here.  You have been warned.

So, remember that warning about the ending?  I've sat on this for six months, to see if my envisioned outcome would change, but my original story line stands.  This is the final chapter, and I promise you that you'd prefer this ending to me writing any more of this verse.  At least there's a chance of happy ever after as things stand.  :)
