Seriously, I was hoping Willow was dead. Real vampire Willow is way too dangerous being the combo of headstrong plus vampire. Hopefully Tara is right about the magic not being there because that would be a new villain.

What was with that “They lived together for eight wonderful yearn, until-“ about?

Enjoyed! I see that this is not only a sequel but there are other fics in this verse which I hope to read. Thanks!

With the double showing, The First went all out! Glad that Buffy was able to see through the deception.

Wow! Just wow on that marvelously written scene with the Harrier!! And the sex magic too!

Oh come on! Someone has to save Willow!

What a fantastic chapter! Just nirvana!

Quentin’s thoughts and actions are screaming sequel re “All the time in the world.”

Must be nice to stuff a Cherokee full of newly purchased presents and not worry about them getting stolen.

Yuck on the black magic flensing…. What I don’t get is why they needed that with the power of The First behind them?

That was kind of dangerous for Spike setting the fire like that on OILY water.

I hate REFERENCE books that come without indexes. How in heck is one to refer back to them?! Recently I bought such a cookbook. The lure was 600 recipes but it’s a pain to search.

Go Buffy with the Star Trek reference! Guess she had to be paying attention to Xander’s constantly mentioning stuff and some of it rubbed off. Loving Xander’s really thinking about what marriage and the future entails. He did not do enough of that in canon. Hence the non wedding when it hit him.

Hope Xander is OK ….

Whee on the Babylon 5 reference! Go Team Rangers!

Re The first appearing as Joyce. There’s a thought. It would have been nice if Willow would have been able to excise and cauterize magically.

For the record, I am still laughing at all of your wonderful metaphors. It seems like they come to you so easily.

Re Faith’s statement about the kitchen of the Hyperion and no one cooking. Fred has some Texan culinary skills if she would only use them. The problem is Angel not understanding that if he has humans there, the kitchen should be stocked with basics for cooking. One really can’t do much without them.

Buffy needed to hear Faith’s opposing viewpoint to get out of her own head.

Love that Buffy realizes that the ordinary day-to-day stuff is far more real and important than unrealistic pie-in-the-sky.

Re Richard Kimble. Sadly I don’t think the younger readers get that reference from one of the greatest shows of all time. Don’t know if it’s made any comebacks on channels or not.

Not cool linking Quentin Tarantino and Quentin Travers in the same paragraph. However must give kudos to Faith for her brilliant suggestion about informing the potentials. It’s not right that the Council wants control without dishing out necessary information. It’s like they are just planning on taking out slayers without regard to their personhood.

I amend my last statement. Angel is evil! LOL re “The Young and the Lifeless”!

The secondary plan makes a lot of sense because Buffy no longer carries the line.

Love that Buffy subjected Angel to a grilling of which he’d never experienced before from her! This is not even close to the tangles of conscience that Spike has been subjected to.

Way to get in a double entendre re the last sentence!

Joyce commented on Chapter 32 on July 15, 2020 03:34pm

Excellent analogy regarding fundamental forces! However, The First and current Willow do believe they are above such considerations.

Love Buffy getting all objective! That’s the kind of thinking I understand. Subjective is only clear to individuals at a certain moment.

Willow must have been paying attention to how Glory treated her minions because it looks real similar.

Color me not surprised that Angel got his mitts into the Council deal…. Still trying to control Buffy’s life.

That Council is evil!!

Poor Willy. Damned if he does; damned if he doesn’t.

I really don’t get Tanner. Seems he helped Buffy here.

Whatever do you have against Clint Eastwood since he was mentioned twice in the space of one chapter?

The Harbinger was honest in being all out evil and it’s time to throw away all the talk about namby-pamby “balance”.

The chess play with the various characters was brilliant!

Mrs Rosenberg still thinks MOO is in existence?! She certainly did not learn her lesson.

It was just a matter of time before one of Travers’s plants saw our duo engaged on public streets as they were wont to do frequently in this fic.

The Council turning to bribery is bad enough but “vivisection” puts them in the same category as The Initiative. Wonder if they did that with past rogue slayers for research purposes?

Oh dear. Sounds like Travers is sending the goon squad.

Dawn asked one major questions we fans have always wanted to know. She can fool herself but she can’t fool us!

My guess is Willow forgot about a ward placed on the house against scryers LOL!

LOL on “matching up pairs..of identical black socks”!

I love Buffy responding by saying Spike’s boo-hooing was akin to Riley’s due to the loss of a crutch.

Gangly teens should realize that their bodies when in a growth spurt are difficult to control.

Shame on Buffy for automatically going there..

Wish I knew more about the Kabbalah for this to make sense to me, a casual reader. Still, it’s very believable!

Interesting that Tara is seen in a greenish light.

You really took hold of Willow’s propensity of being an addict always wanting more and never knowing when to stop.

Now we know the real reason for putting Dawn as the power source…

Somehow in this day and age, I don’t think kids have the goal and pleasure of collecting box tops with them being way too busy caught up in the lights of things electronic. Sad.

Wait a moment re “Spike couldn’t eat rats; the chip wouldn’t let him.” Whatever happened to only working on humans? I thought there was something funny about Spike getting all happy with the rats.

Does Willow get some sort of magical heads up whenever Dawn tries to remember? Certainly seems like it with her just coincidentally then paying attention to Dawn.

Clipboard bonking with Dawn’s lanky not controlled yet growth spurt strength?! Not so high on the effectiveness scale.

Willow failed to keep in mind that crazy folks see Dawn as her true self “verde del sol” regardless of magic…

Somehow I thought The Evil One would have kept Spike from displaying the secret in front of Buffy. Thought it was some future selfish reason…

Joyce commented on Chapter 26 on July 13, 2020 05:49pm

One would have thought that “the Balance” thing would be foremost on Willow’s mind but she’s like the rest of us in being selfish and greedy regarding her own needs. Hence the question coming after the deed was done. A bit late there. Obviously the “thing” can hear Willow’s thoughts so it knows the element of betrayal is there.

That’s an interesting spell. The Evil One does not want anyone to know what Willow did.

“Obliviscere” what? Willow did not set any parameters for that command. Will that come back at Willow?

Sorry but I don’t know nor could I find the definition of “boccor”.

You go with writing righteously angry Spike! Buffy made the rules and he complied but he was supposed to read her mind for the little details.

Re “..strains…drifted through the quiet cemetery..” I think Spike should get some headphones to listen to his music in case of any daytime demon hunters about.

Willow had excellent reasoning regarding the chip removal! “Cake, piece of” compared to Glory. Joss had to have known that but decided not to go that route for plot reasons or something.

Those flimsy glasses could not have possibly lasted as long as you say in my opinion. The frames are too easily bent. I had a pair of those in the 70s when that style was in.

William was near sighted. When did Spike get far sighted? If as a human, that was young.

Love you had Buffy giving Spike back the “Fool for Love” speech from her point of view! (My favorite episode!).

There goes Dawn contributing to the delinquency of a minor with the smoking suggestion. Had an argument with my doc regarding why I needed another emergency inhaler when I am on two controller inhalers for my asthma and COPD. I told her it was people being unpredictable as in blowing their habits around at vulnerable folks, wearing perfume or sand particles in the air which set me off.

Re “stale Dorito”. Does that analogy work? I think of something as stale when it’s wimpy. The fresher it is, the more it snaps. Maybe I’m wrong since it’s been years since I ate those.

“…I can’t handle an ex-demon..” With that realization right there, Xander could have prevented the train wreck.

It makes tons of sense that a vengeance demon would not have empathy.  However it is something I had not considered before.

I really hope that this fight gets back to Buffy. Angel is certainly acting as he always has as if his way of seeing things is the only way.

Grrr on Angel speaking to Buffy about Spike like that as if Angel’s hands were clean.

You’re right. I don’t recall hearing the name of the new mayor once Wilkins was taken down. Maybe she or she is also a demon or some relative of Wilkins just to keep the corruption going.

Re “..tooling down Highway 91 towards Corona..”. Reading this during the COVID-19 crap. Also saw the movie, Flight 7500, with a guy whose residence was in Corona.

That “harem” comment was so right on for Faith!

Love the way Buffy purposefully turned around Faith’s question regarding Spike’s goodness.

LOL re “seeing each other” and making eye contact being synonymous!!

Yes, those were more than clues to Xander’s heart not being in wedding preparations.

I like your technique of mentioning random occurrences spread throughout and then tying the occurrences into a whole.

I am crying reading about the gift of The Rubaiyat. That was the first gift I received from fiance before I married him.

So Linda is in the know but still uses the term “gang”.

Totally agree with Giles about “the glory of analog sound”! So much warmer and fuller sounding.

So it’s a bad thing for a slayer to be “willful” according to Quentin but he can exert his will overall. What a misogynist!

I think you nailed Willow’s problem with Anya because there just cannot be any other reason.

Things were going so well that I nearly forgot about Tanner and company.

Not cool for Willow to bite at Anya like that! Anya was just being practical with her suggestion since she is in a “powerless” position herself.

Poor Dawn bawling when she has food and a roof over her head and “all that crap”(!!??). NOT! Mewly modern day kids are like that. She nearly got away from a cardinal sin because it would have been “fun” without thinking of the consequences to others. It wasn’t fun! It was an adrenaline rush from committing a crime. Criminals get it all the time. There are lots of fun things to do that are free. What a slap in the face to those of us who had to do chores and work in the fields because otherwise the crop would not be brought in on time. We were all in it together. There was never money for new clothes. My grandma made most of my dresses from flour sack cloth which was dyed into fun colors or we had hand-me-downs. There. Now off my sand box about that. Different generations.

That Dr Walsh comment was just gratuitous, right? Since The Initiative is hopefully long gone in this alternate version of Season 6.

LOL re Buffy’s feet not obeying her commands! Also re Spike’s save regarding his own insecurity issues!

That last bit from Buffy was HUGE! “I finally managed to shut Spike up.”

“…the clang reverberated through the crypt..” and Spike was still slumbering?! I think he should have been up with that vibration.

ROTFL re “studied the half-dozen identical black t-shirts intently..”! I’m easy. Mainly it was the “intently” that did it. Spike wouldn’t want to hear it but that’s a girly thing to do. My sons paid little attention to clothes even when they went on dates.

Love the strategy regarding Faith that Buffy showed!

Why didn’t Giles mention his knowledge of “local informants to bound demon servitors” when Faith woke up? Someone had to alert that kill team. And the Council is a bit hypocritical with the “bound demon servitors” after all the pap fed to slayers.

Hopefully there will be more info on that Chinese dragon creature. Spike has had time to learn Chinese in all these years only if to just read the Chinese fall out after the Boxer Rebellion. My younger son has been to China and started learning Mandarin. He says it only has four tones as opposed to Vietnamese which has eighteen tones. What works for him to be understood is to speak in a singing manner which is much easier than trying to speak like we do in the West.

Many men in the world are not circumcised and that can be a shock to Americans where it’s frequently done right after birth.

Brilliant idea to use one of Doc’s books! Great tie-in!

What I don’t like in this fic is Tara not doing the aura thing on Spike. It’s just a bit weird for the attitudes of Tara and Willow to be switched around from canon.

Love the Rubber Soul album! It has my favorite Beatles song, In My Life. Late 1980 and late 2001 were hard mourning times for Beatles fans but at least George’s death was natural. We knew it was coming.

Despite what Buffy thinks, her obvious “cut him cold” got the girls attention. The lady dost protest too much.

As a practical type person, I admire Spike’s “impatient” answer. What was done in the past could not be undone. What matters was the present “What do we do about it now?” And I disagree with Buffy’s assessment about him not giving a “flying flip”. What the heck does that matter and that can be faked. He’s focused on the now. I’ve had way too many arguments about things along this line. Tara’s tears do nothing. Work on concrete solutions instead of rhetoric.

Thanks for a logical backstory regarding Spike’s fear of bears.

Re “immensely grating giggle”. I know what you mean. Recently took a self defense course for WOMEN but the class had some middle school girls who thought everything was a joke and they continually giggled. Annoying as all get out. I know the young girls need help but they should be in teen classes not classes for women.

Do people really use the word “grotty”? I haven’t heard it since A Hard Day’s Night was at the theaters.
