This was an awesome idea and I enjoyed reading this story. I liked how you wrote the relationship between Will and Buffy. I also liked how you wrote the relationship between Nina and Angel in this story. I am glad that Connor and Dawn became a couple as I thought that they would have been a good couple on the shows. Thanks for writing.[Report This]
As much as I am enjoying your awesome story I can see how this is going and I can't help but feel very very sad that the Spike that was a champion and sacrificed his life and loved with all his heart and soul in reality, at least from my perspective, is now gone and Buffy will eventually be united not with the vampire/warrior/hero but with this human William. I don't know how much of Spike will eventually be instilled in William - I hope it will be a lot more cause right now I feel like Spike is being replaced and it makes me very sad. A cruel irony that the immortals idea of Buffy seeing that man or vampire that she should have seen deserved her is not Spike who gave her all his love and gave so much to her will not have his Beloved Buffy.
It's a very interesting treatment of the Shanshu and having a Human Spike transformed into an infant - My not being a fan of Angel and seeing him having all the love and life that infant Spike brings him is a bit hard for me to take but that's a reflection of how much I dislike the character.
I don't intend any criticism of your work it's just that the Spike I loved seems like he is being completely replaced but this infant's life.
**cracks knuckles** Okay, I felt this comment deserves a decent answer. First off, I take no offence to any of your opinions. Let me start off by saying when I began Beloved, it was meant to be a 10 chapter story with Angel as a supreme dick ('cause he truly pisses me off with how he treats Spike). Somehow, he ended up telling me it would be the supreme payback to have him ultimately love Spike/Will to his fullest.
As for Spike being replaced, I thoroughly understand your disappointment, but if you continue to read, which I hope you do, I've tried to pay homage to our beloved bloodsucker. I don't want to ruin anything, but if you want to comment again when you're finished, I'll be more than happy to give you any answers you might still have questions for. (Oh god, Xander words make us speak good speech - sorry).
Trust me when I tell you that I adore Spike, even though I carry Will around in my heart as my third son. I hurt when he hurt, etc. By the end, I'm hoping you at least think I did right by Spike. And Buffy, of course. (Little spoiler hint - they lived long and prospered)
This cannot be anything but extremely difficult to absorb and give any some of reconciliation from Spike's all Evil Big Bad and the human William connection that remained with the vampire life form. Excited to see how you handle the subject.[Report This]
This story is fantastic. If I hadn’t been reading the notes about the time between chapters I wouldn’t have guessed you didn’t write this all at once. The story flows beautifully and all charactets important in the story grow and have an ending. (Xander facing true consequences was surprising and fitting, most characters seem to skate by. Having him reach an amazing destiny only after accepting past errors was particularly good)
This whole story is like a love letter to Spike and Buffy and it was such a pleasure to read.
You've made my night with this comment, sweetie. Beloved was a labor of love that stretched out more than a decade. I still carry Will in my heart as a third son, and Will and Buffy are happily cavorting around in the heavenly realms - together for all eternity. Xander finally got his act together, but yes, he paid for his hatred and bigotry.
What pleases me most is that nobody was upset that the 'lead' in this fic was Will, and not Spike proper. But you can't have one without the other, so... at least he and Buffy got their happily ever after (and Spike got his acknowledgment and was honored).
Awesome story and I'm so glad I found it. You were able to wrap up the lives of all the characters do well. Love how Angel became so protective of Will.
Nothing can defy the power of Will/Spike. He's a force to be reckoned with!! He lives in my heart as my third son. I am most pleased that you enjoyed his tale.
CONGRATULATIONS! Well worth waiting for the completion and kudos for you coming back to finish it.
Just loved both the re-reading and the new updates. (and love the so hopeful artwork too BTW)...that tombstone screams HEA.
Perfect tie up. No way would Spike live too long without his Buffy. They have eternity now.
Loved the story and love how you tied it up just right.
This fic was a labor of love (and blood, and guts and birth) for me. I passed along your compliments to Twinkles on her artwork, she is most pleased.
One way or another Spike and Buffy were meant to be together. It might have been a tad unconventional, but I hope you liked the way I melded Spike and Will into one person. Just as Spike carried William inside of him, Will carried the genetics and potential of Spike in himself. And lucky Buffy - she got her 'normal' (for her) life with the man she loved. Happy and healthy finally.
Thank you for your patience in reading it to its conclusion. You made it all worthwhile.
I FINALLY got caught back up and I truly loved this story from the first chapter to the last. Awesome ride that you took us all on.
So nice to hear you enjoyed the journey of William Spike Pratt Dowell and Buffy. It was a long road to the finish line, but we actually got there.
I loved this. So happy you finished it because i only read completed fiction.
What a tale, Spike stealing Angels Shansu by beeing reincarnated a human Baby. Happy Angel got a gripp on his petty jealousy and be the father for Will he couldn't be for Connor. Kudos for Nina's persistence.
Like the Dawn Connor plot.
Very ingenious the plotline of a statuefied Buffy, permitting William / Spike to grow to his adult age to be with Buffy without any age difference. I like the Bookwriting together to honor Spikes life
Congratulations to finishing this story and i am looking forward to read your other work
I'm so pleased you enjoyed my little tale. Trust me - it's only here thanks to lots of shed blood and sweat. Angel was supposed to have been a real nasty prick, but apparently, he had other ideas. **grins** I can't wait to hear from you in regards to my other fics! Happy reading!
For awhile now I expected that it would end with this. Time is indeed always moving but they did get a good life together. This is hard for Angel, he still has Nina left but not for long and after that family will be more anc more distant, one of the bad things with immortality.
This has been a long story but I have enjoyed it all, the angst and the happiness. I must admitt that I am curious about Illyria, Xander and Anya now.
Thanks for this story.[Report This]
After everything, it does feel good to see these lovely moments. The book is doing really well it seems, good they deserve that.
Beloved was my labor of love. I don't think I'll ever feel as deeply involved in the characters as I got with this one, but it is something to aim for. Happily ever after was always my goal here.
Aw, there's lovely. Another wedding in the strange, complex, extended family.
I'm glad you liked the pairing. They just seemed right for each other. Wedding can be such happy events for family. So pleased you enjoyed.
A well named chapter. Time is always moving and life is moving with it. This melancholy feeling felt so very fitting for a funeral and for a move.
Life does have a way of moving on, no matter how deeply you try and entrench your feet. Most pleased that you enjoyed.
You are bringing this tale to its conclusion. It's been quite a ride. I'm so happy you stuck with this to the end.
It's been a long road, fraught with obstacles and massive writers block, but we're still here and kicking! Glad you joined us for the end run.
Bye bye, Giles. Bye bye...
Dawn has the knowledge and experience to be an awesome head of the Council.
And Buffy & William are growing a lovely family of their own...
Grandpa Giles had to go. Gave me a bit of a clenched throat to write it, but such is the way of life. Everyone else is growing up. Thanks for being a part of our family.
