Good, well-done fight sequence.
I am glad you gave Buffy a reason beyond saving Angel for her choice in killing Faith here. In canon I doubt she gave the Mayor a thought but it makes it more palatable having more than Angel's fate a cause for Buffy's plan to kill Faith. Taking Faith off the game board in their fight against the Mayor was just too vitally important. Buffy couldn’t fail. She just couldn’t. It's still killing her sister Slayer but at least for a bigger reason than a dying boyfriend.
That last, hidden piece of innocence, shriveled up, blacked and died, like paper being burned on a fire. Yes, it should have done just that. Should have at least bothered Buffy.
Great twist in having Faith stab Buffy as well and Buffy take that fall.
I can't wait to see where this goes. Angel doesn't look like he's going to be getting any Slayer blood at all from either girl this night for one thing. Buffy will be wanted for either murder or attempted murder because of Faith I would imagine.
Excellent and tense opener.
Oh, I loved this start! I knew by the summary that something had to change at the end of season 3 but this is a fantastic way to do it. And I'm wondering now if Faith being found earlier - because the Mayor would still respond to the reports of a fight I assume - will change things for her since now it's Buffy on a truck, bleeding out. Or well, maybe not bleeding out. She still has the knife in her. Sorry, I'm rambling, lol. I'm very much looking forward to the next part though![Report This]
A great intensity in the writing of this fight. They both were giving their all, no retreat or surrender and the way Buffy is thinking seems right.
It will be interesting to learn how long Buffy was in a coma and what happened during it.[Report This]
Yay, I was beginning to worry, but you came through right on the wire :D
This was great. I wasn't expecting it to start in the 'past', so to speak, but I love that choice. Interesting that Faith was still stabbed, as well, I'm intrigued to learn what happened to her. Did she die that night or also fall into a coma like Buffy? Can't wait for the next chapter.[Report This]
That was an explosive and fantastic start! The horror of slayer against slayer as they try to win against each other was powerful. I was really struck by Buffy's thoughts, and felt shocked (even though I obviously know the storyline, duh!) that Buffy truly chose to preserve a demon's life--whether she loved him or not--over a human's. With all the 'can't hurt humans, even the shitty ones' attitude she aimed at Spike, that pedestal that her friends always put her on, I don't think it fully registered with me how devastating this decision of hers was. That she'd sacrifice her sister slayer, no thought to trying to help her come back to the fold, simply for a boy she loved. Because ultimately, that's all Angel was. She's an 18 year old girl, sacrificing a human life for some guy she couldn't even have anyway, and one whose grip on his soul was tentative at best. Wow. Just wow. Well done, Amy. This is a ripping start and I can't wait to read more. Oh, but you might want to change 'mum' to 'mom', LOL. Your Aussieness is showing.[Report This]
