Bane is an interesting creature, I really wonder what his plan actually is? Why does he clearly want Buffy and Spike spending time together.
So now we also has Angel to deal with.
I like Amon and I liked how Buffy was fooling him to get the shirt but got one of Dru's instead.[Report This]
I’m a bit confused...has Buffy been called yet? Spike called her Slayer more than once in this chapter. Also, she doesn’t seem to question him calling her that, does she know about Slayers?
I really liked Spike’s visit to the Master and his interactions with Darla. Of course Angel would try to trick him, and of course it wouldn’t work. It’s still a better place for him to be with Spike, though, than with the master, being tortured.
Nice work with the suspense when Buffy went to get the shirt. Good thing Spike didn’t notice she’d taken one of Dru’s shirts instead, that’d surely be a fast way to get herself killed.
Looking forward to see what happens next.
She hasn’t been called yet, but Spike does refer to her as a Slayer since he knows she’s a potential and will be the next one activated once the current Slayer dies.
There have been a few instances where Buffy wondered why he calls her that. It’ll be explained more in a few chapters. (Hint: that’s around the time she’ll find out her destiny).
Bad idea, Giles...to promise Ethan you won’t interfere with his next scheme. But I guess he can get someone else to do it. I’m a little surprised that he couldn’t find anything in the watcher’s diaries, but maybe he doesn’t have access to all of them, now that he doesn’t have a Slayer. Ethan sure knows a lot, but then again he always seemed to. I like how you’ve mixed things from the wishverse into this fic, seeing as Buffy coming to Sunnydale as merely a potential would in many ways be the same as if she’d never showed up at all.
I apparently skipped an update, so I’ll move straight on to the Spuffier chapter 8, yay[Report This]
Not sure how helpful it'll be having Angel there. Buffy will likely fall for the poor abused fellow prisoner *eye roll* and see Spike as even more a villain.
Can't imagine Bane's game plan but it's interesting seeing it play out.
Spike needs to cool his temper. Being angry all the time is going to exhaust all of them LOL.
So she got Dru's shirt. That's not likely to help the nightmares stay at bay.
Nice use of Ethan. So he's unnerved by the power of Spike's ... erm... employer.
Interesting info on the whereabouts of Angel in this world.
Love that Willow is not giving up on Buffy or letting the rest either.
Now they know who Spike is. That should make them wonder even more about why he's saved Buffy in the past.
Well, at least he’s taking care of her needs, even if he’d rather she wasn’t there. I wonder what Spike will say if he finds out she needs his shirt to sleep. As romantic as he is, that’s gotta do something for him, even with Dru missing.
Also, I wonder when she’ll get called, if someone will tell her before and if it happens while she’s with Spike, if he’ll explain it to her once it happens.
Nice update[Report This]
Seeing a demon acting like Amon is of course a big surprise for Buffy, something she isn't used to. This does drive home to her that Spike isn't helping out of the goodness of his heart.
The dreams are hard for her to deal with, so no wonder that she wants to get another of Spike's shirts to chase them away.[Report This]
I like the plot device with the shirt chasing away the nightmares. Doubt magic is involved but it's clever.
Poor Joyce! I wonder if Bane has found some way to placate her over Buffy's going missing.
Well at least Willow had fun at the party so some good things there. Poor Buffy, first the jerk Cameron and then she got into this situation. I did not expect this turn of event. It makes me even more curious about what Bane plans. Since they are now forced to spend more time together, they will get to know each other. Buffy now have some information on Spike but she will learn more. And poor Joyce, this will not be good for her.[Report This]
Interesting! So Spike is gonna play the unwilling part of protector/prison guard. At least Buffy knows some of the truth now. I like how you described her reckless behaviour and her reasons for having it. I guess this is a good example of “careful what you wish for...” Poor Joyce, though, and Willow.
Funny to read about how the Scooby gang has formed without Buffy to unite them. I wonder if Giles was waiting for her, but then she wasn't called anyway or whatever. It seems like she's about to be though, what with the dreams and all. She should tell them. On the other hand, she'd never get rid of them then. Giles and the council would be all over her.
Interesting that Spike's shirt makes the dreams go away. Is it because it somehow symbolises a vampire's protection of her?
Looking forward to read where you take it from here.[Report This]
Interesting that Spike's shirt can keep the nightmares away. I wonder if that is because some kind of connection or if it is psychological?
Buffy is looking for answers and find herself at the library. Good to see that she is actually thinking about how weird it is that someone who worked at British museum, now is a high-school librarian. She got to meet the library group.
Another reminder of how much this is like the wishworse, everyone knows about the vampires and then this weird idea that they are drawn towards strong colours. Most likely this comes from people wearing strong colours tends to be easy kills.
Go9d to see that Buffy has a friend in Willow.[Report This]
Interesting. I like how you've changed the events to fit a Buffy who hasn't been called, and a Sunnydale where the vampires roam more freely. It makes sense that Xander would take up hunting vampires regardless of Buffy's calling, since Jesse was turned. I do wonder, however, why he hasn't hit on her in this reality, since he seemed more than a little interested in her in canon before he knew she was the Slayer.
So as a potential, she feels the vampires, but doesn't have the powers to go with it. That makes sense. I wonder if Joyce is also less naive in this reality, seeing as it must be hard to ignore the reality of vampires in this Sunnydale. You said that they learned about them because one was about to bite Joyce, but did she realise what it was? The opportunity to have a more honest and open relationship with her mom, has got to make a lot of things easier for Buffy. Even if it's hardly fun to live in a place where you're in mortal danger as soon as the sun sets.
Also, Spike has now saved her twice, to her knowledge, and I bet a lot of other times she didn't know about. I wonder how he felt about her kissing his cheek while he was in gameface. And does he realise she's sleeping with his shirt? As much as he's only doing this to get Dru back, he can't be totally unmoved by her actions.
I wonder when she'll be called...and was he supposed to take her away when she was?
All very good questions! In this timeline Xander did like Buffy and probably does think she’s still attractive, but his hatred for vampires because of what happened to Jesse has led him on a different path. Joyce is aware of vampires (people gossip/talk in Sunnydale).
Spike doesn’t know (yet) that Buffy is sleeping with his shirt, and while he still loves Dru, Buffy will start to wear him down eventually.
Thank you for reading and reviewing!
I like how we are slowly learning more and more about the differences in the timeline. I first thought that Nancy was a Slayer but weren'tSpike told the Slayer was somewhere else, so I guess that the library group is much like in the wishwerse. Buffy not being the Slayer has caused a change in the group dynamic and Willow is not a part of it, which means she can be friends with Buffy. It seems like the town is more aware about the situation, no Sunnydale denial.
This is the second time Spike has saved Buffy and he is not amused, Buffy will wear him down though. She is of course fascinated by him. The last part of the chapter is very fitting. She is a young girl that was close to something horrible happening, it would have an effect.
Yes, the library group is much like the one in the wishverse! Thank you for reading and reviewing!
Spike is so resentful of having to be her guard dog and frustrated that he hasn't been given his Dru back yet. Makes for an angry, surly, vampire. Still, Buffy's sweet innocence should be getting to him on some level.
Like that she and Joyce aren't ignorant of the truth of Sunnydale and the supernatural. Safer that way.
So it seems that Willow and Xander aren't close now. Also, Nancy must be the town's Slayer it would seem.
Nancy isn’t the Slayer of Sunnydale because the Slayer in Brazil is still alive. Thank you for reading and reviewing!
