OH MY GOD THE FEEEEEEEEELINGS
This is so lovely. A kick in the gut for sure, but in such a lovely way. I love how it takes canon events and twists them and also twists Buffy's reactions so that Xander knows to butt out of Buffy's love life and Willow gets help with the magic. And I love that, at the end, it's Tara and Anya who are with Buffy and Spike when they learn Buffy's baby is Dawn.
This is so amazing. I need to go eat some chocolate and feel some feelings now. And cheer for the fact that Spike was the one allowed into Buffy's new apartment, that after they slept together he was able to come in whenever he wanted without knocking, that he's the one allowed free access into Buffy's life and home and no one else.[Report This]
So sweet how they both dreamt of saving Dawn every night. I like this Buffy, she doesn't tolerate any crap from her 'friends.' Very happy Buffy loves Spike. Since Spuffy already loved sister/Dawn before, now the new daughter/Dawn will be the most loved child, ever![Report This]
if it was possible my blood could close the portal, then it could open it too and Glory wouldn’t have needed Dawn You just hit the stupidity of Buffy's solution to the portal as a plot hole. YES!!! It made zero sense IMHO.
Love her epiphany about dating normal and how Xander's idea of perfect for her is a Riley clone. Nice that she sees how wrong that was from the start. Crushing the pool ball was priceless.
“The light is dimmer, and it’s fading, but that’s good. The more she grows, the less she’ll glow. By the time she’s ready to be born, she won’t be the Key anymore… but she’ll still be Dawn.” This made me SO happy! YES, they should be her parents and Dawn deserves a life, a real one. All that guilt and grieving can become celebration now. She's not a "substitute" for the lost Dawn... she IS Dawn. Yay for Tara's abilities and honesty.
I adore this story!!! Love it from start to finish.
This was so emotional. Buffy was of course feeling this strong guilt and so does Spike. Not that I want them together or anything but Buffy thinking they were doomed because of that comment was a bit much. In most cases that comment would have been exactly right.
Willow had a really awful idea, stealing her memories are such a horrible thing to do. Goid to see Buffy reacting strongly to it.
I liked the scene with Spike and it somehow felt sweet how he sort of brought Dawn back ( well not only him of course but still)
The ending felt good and hopeful, just the right thing after the sorrow from the beginning.[Report This]
beautifully written piece!
and it goes so well with the grief that buffy went through in canon, however, in private.
and i can totally see why felt guilt, although misguided.
and thank heavens for tara and anya to verbally turn buffy's life a little brighter, and for spike - for being what she needed and somehow helped in bringing dawn back ...[Report This]
