I'm hoping Beth is less in their control than they think. Riley always thought he was superior to females anyway so he'd not notice.
He and Xander deserve whatever comes their way.

A glimmer of hope that Riley won't walk away as the victorious party. Or I'm so anti-Riley that I'm hanging onto tiny threads. Beth's incredulity that she can't be a good person while disobeying orders is a nice turn back to Buffy's way of thinking, that she will disobey any orders in order to be a good person.

Really good to see into Beth's mind. She may be a clone and have been trained to just be a soldier but she has her own thoughts and feelings. She doesn't like all of Riley's plans. It could be a natural part of her, or maybe it's even some part of Buffy's mindset that followed through and is awakening. Maybe even memories could be awaken, somewhat like a "ghola" from the Dune books.

I don't know what your head cannon on souls are, but if I had to guess she has a soul similar to Buffy, thus feeling similar to how might feel in a situation.

I like how Buffy has grown and was on Spike's side. I like how you let Spike be who he is and not some tame version of himself with Buffy
Thank you! I see too many fics where Spike seems to domesticate himself to try and impress the Scoobies (somewhat guilty of this myself which is why i try to avoid it now.) I prefer the one who is out and proud about who he is. So I'm glad it's come through.
Glad that Buffy has grown and was there for Spike and didn’t let him suffer with guilt. Glad that Faith saw Buffys insight into him. And I know that Dawn hated to do this but she had to take the reigns to move them forward.
Buffy and Spike are real partnership now, she knows him well enough to know when to leave him to it and get him to talk. Indeed, Dawn had to play damage control, but will adjust accordingly.

Typical dilemma and so frustrating for everybody. For Dawn because she has no choice than giving in and doing exactly what they wanted her to do, for Spike because they played him so resourcefully and knew him so well . I wouldn't have expected Riley to be such a good puppet master.
Riley's had some time to learn how to play the game a bit better. Indeed, Spike and Dawn played right into his hands, masterfully and now they've had to adjust to try and gain some ground back. Sadly, Riley's got time on his side now.

Well there had to be some fall out from this. Not a good situation for Dawn, trying to navigate this situation. Spike is of course angry at himself and he do have a tendency to lashing out. Buffy do gets him though as we can see.
Indeed, not good for anyone involved on the hero side, but Dawn has adjusted accordingly. But, Riley is clearly a much better strategist than they thought.

I do hope that Riley gets the worst end of this. Spike was so set up and Dawn is giving Finn pretty much what he wanted.
Yup, Spike was mad at himself for not just blowing Simone off, for giving in to the anger and becoming the bear she was poking.
Buffy knows her guy very well though and did and said the right things.
I wish they'd be ready for this war because Riley and Xander need to be ended. The jury is out on Giles.

Sadly, Dawn had little choice. Riley played his cards so well and forced her into a corner than led to her having to do just as he wanted.
Spike's on the side-lines now, but as we know from the past, sometimes this is where Spike is at his best.
The war is coming, just a tad more to go.

A good talk between Buffy and Dawn.
Then we have the Spike scene. It is so very fitting that he would react like this after some disrespect for Buffy. Still, he should be able to withstand provocations. Nice banner too.
