It's a little drop down menu at the bottom when you leave a comment. But I'll totally take your comment as a "like." Thank you SO much! I'm very glad you enjoyed it. It was really fun to write the Mayor for the first time. *hugs*

Much appreciate the chapter notes - agree on the connection to his drugs from the series - made little sense on Kralik's dependence.

There's something so adorable about: She was here, vulnerable before him, and he couldn’t bring himself to deck her in the face. God, what was wrong with him? Poor besotted boy 💜 Awesome chapter, loving the developments.

“You helping?” ... “Yeah. Yeah, I am.” - I love this! 💜 That sense that when they're driven down to it, there's that wordless trust and understanding between them.

And the mayor continues to be delightful, his sense of propriety is a very fun contrast to Spike 😂

Thank you 💙

Author's Response on December 02, 2019 11:24pm

They totally already work so well together. They're like magnets!

I loved writing the Mayor! There need to be more Mayor fics! I'd read them...

“But mark my words, Slayer, this isn’t over.” He wasn’t sure exactly what wasn’t over, but that didn’t matter. He’d have the last word. Damn it. - I bloody love this 😂 Spikey-boy, you are so doomed 💜

Awesome idea for a fic :D Your Mayor and Allan voices are brilliant, and very fun of course. Poor Allan is correct to worry.

Yay for Angel exiting so swiftly and unseen :D And the way Spike gets the credit from Wilkins, hehe, perfect.

Both banners are so gorgeous! Really love the colouring and how well tied together and laid out they are. Beautiful work 😍

Thank you 💙

Spike is SO doomed. Lol

Thank you so much about the Mayor and Allan voices! I had so much fun writing their little dynamic.

Oh yeah...Angel is gone! Poof! ;o) I was rewatching Lovers Walk for this fic and the way the Mayor mused about Spike being a fun little troublemaker the previous year who needed to be stopped now made me laugh!

The banners are very gorgeous, huh? Stnia outdid herself! hug

Interesting premise. Of course Spike from that period would be completely oblivious to his own motives, raging against being cast aside by Dru while doing exactly what she accused him of.

The snippets of the Mayor's diary are very good.

I liked your story. A bit bummed about the Major implanting the initiative Chip in Spikes head. I didn't think he would associate with them, he who made Sunnydale a demon friendly place.

would have liked to know about Faith outcome in the end.

Happy there is an hit at future Spuffy. Spike has found a place in the group

Author's Response on November 02, 2019 12:04am

Ah! I went back and forth on the chip. I wanted the Mayor to show he was capable of badness and also show that he didn’t care who he made a deal with as long as his ascension took place. Spike crossed a line and needed punishment. The Mayor didn’t really care about the demon friendliness of Sunnydale at the end of it all. He was gonna rule... something. I am still not clear on what. Lol Anyway, that’s the back story on the chip.

The other reason for the choice is to have Spike and Buffy to have a reason to relate to one another that quickly because I knew it wasn’t going to be a long fic. Buffy knee what was like to be helpless.

Faith ended up in jail for her crime but my thought was she’d break out somehow at some point and find that thing the mayor left her.

And yes! Spuffy is in the near future! And Spike is incorporated!

Sorry that the story didn’t hit the notes you were hoping! Thanks for reading and letting me know your thoughts. hearts

Excellent. So relieved that Faith confessed about the Deputy Mayor and went to jail rather than staying with the Mayor and ending up in a coma.

I know Buffy was desperate about Angel, but I was never happy about her trying to kill Faith. It seemed so out of character. Why didn't she simply ask Giles or Willow to set up a blood donation thingy on herself and let blood be drawn from her safely to give to Angel?

Love how Spike almost accidentally became a Scooby, and helped with the  Mayorpocalypse.

Good to see him being accepted by Giles & the gang - almost friends. It's also good to see Cordelia open about being broke.

Don't suppose you plan a sequel dealing with the Initiative, by any chance?

Author's Response on November 01, 2019 12:16am

I agree with you! I have a hard time reconciling what Buffy did with Faith with what happens later and how she never really thought about it again...I mean, until Faith took over her body.

Spike totally tripped into being a Scooby! And I wanted his transition to be smoother because fanfic. biggrin

Well, this is interesting. Spike chipped early, and naturally, goes to Buffy & Joyce for help, and to tell them about Wilkins & Faith.

In my head, he went there first on the show, but nobody was home, which is why he went to Giles' house.

Love that Joyce & Buffy are so accepting, and tell him to stay, although like a good slayer, Buffy has to check his story. But of course, they're more interested in The Mayor and Faith than the Initiative.

Author's Response on November 01, 2019 12:14am

I love your head canon that Spike went to Buffy's first and then Giles's. Totally makes sense! Joyce was out of town, right?

I love the notion that Angelus sired Kralik. Idiot.

And of course Spike wouldn't want Kralik killing Buffy while she's vulnerable. Spike intends to kill her one-on-one in battle, fists & fangs and sod all else. Really he does. probably.

I wonder what The Mayor has in mind now....

Author's Response on November 01, 2019 12:11am

Yay! Yes...it was fun to make Angelus be Kralik's sire.

Short, and sweet and a neat little ending, and I love the way you captured all of their relationships, especially the way you included kinship between Oz and Spike. I love that idea so much. This was a really great chapter. I love that through it all, the Mayor actually does care about Faith. I always had that feeling throughout the show. I'm glad Faith is in jail instead of a coma from Buffy trying to kill her (I hated that! It seemed so OOC for Buffy to try to kill a human. I can see her offering her blood because she's great with the self-sacrifice, but not some other human especially a sister Slayer. Not even for Angel).

Love that the Mayor cares enough about her to be okay with it and that he had worried about Faith post ascension.

Love Spike as part of the group. Even the Scoobies are accepting.

He won't leave but it's great that Buffy told him she wanted him to stay.

Excellent tale. I enjoyed it completely.

The Mayor totally loves Faith. That, I  believe.

Yes! I wanted him to have an easier entryway to the Scooby gang. Glad it worked for you! I know I probably could have made the story longer so some of the notes may have seemed short, but I wanted them in there.

In his last note we can see that the Mayor is worried about Faith, It's clear that he plans to get her out afterwards.

Buffy did not place Faith in a coma this time, a healthier scenario for both of them.

Now that the part with the Mayor is over, Spike really is at a crossroad, he has to actively choose which way to go. Buffy showed him that she wants him to stay which made his choice easy enough. They are at a good place now, nothing to hinder them from going forward in a good way.

A good and hopeful ending to this nice story, nothing more to ask for. A good place to end it before another bad thing could happen.

Author's Response on October 31, 2019 11:59pm

I wanted Buffy to not have a reason to go off the rails and with Angel gone and Spike already muzzled, there was no poison.

And totally...Spike doesn't know what to do with himself, and you're so right, it was sort of an easy choice to make. He just went with it. lol
