So some truths might be coming out. Dawn is going to want more information about Angel being the one to kill their parents and Buffy is going to want to know how Joyce knows this vampire.
I HATE that Buffy has forgotten her friend! I hope those memories return at least in part. Those events were too important to be gone forever.
Angel and his crap about not being the same person isn't going to play I hope. Two people or not he murdered their parents.
Then Riley almost asking Giles for a date with Buffy instead of Buffy! What a neanderthal. I really hope Buffy has NO interest. I'm already disappointed in her for being cozy with Angel!
Angel is going to try to help get Spike recaptured I just know it.
I really don't want them getting him again. The hell he's lived will be nothing on what comes then.
You've given us a re-imagined AU that takes elements from cannon and rewraps them to present the same characters in a new and more energized storyline. I am eager to read the next update.
As for the story line to date:
It is bad enough not to be thankful that Spike saved Joyce's life. That he rescued and saved two children. That he cared enough to go after her to rescue her from Angelus' clutches. But to paint Spike as responsible for Jenny's death. To subject Buffy to Angel's presence, the vampire that murdered her parents, planned to rape and murder or turn her and would have happily killed Dawn and all of Sunnydale on a whim? All after betraying Spike and leaving him in the Initiative's hands for eleven years.
This Giles has far surpassed Season Seven asshole, control-freak, backstabbing Giles by a mile.
That said: I love the relationship between Joyce and Spike. Joyce, at least, appreciates being alive and Spike's true nature. I am hopeful that she can get Buffy to see that Slayer is not what she is, it is simply what she does. And please, let Buffy rediscover the girl inside. As for Riley. Ugg. Maggie and the rest of the Initiative crew -- let Spike and Buffy do them in and show them that true warriors are not electronically controlled automatons kept under control with special vitamins and poisoned foods.
And I wonder, what exactly did Maggie or the counsel do with the rest of the vampires from that faithful day?
Oh, and if Buffy is 19, what happened on her 18th birthday?[Report This]
I always like seeing Spike and Dawn together. Considering how young she is, his thoughts on her looks can feel a bit disturbing but it is just thoughts. Good to see that he told her about Angelus that means Buffy will learn too.
Seeing Angel would of course wake the rage in Spike. Angel didn't have a chance and not Buffy either, then Joyce take action. Of course she wanted to save Buffy. Apparently hitting Spike like that destroyed the tracker and that was good. I also loved how Joyce reacted when she realised it was Spike.
Her dislike of Angel is also good to see. Now it looks like a lot of information will be shared. The Initiative knows that Spike was at Giles and knows about the connection to this place, so that is a danger.
Added later: I forgot to mention that I liked the crazy pirate guy we saw. His talk about Pan naturally made me think about some evil Peter Pan character but he probably just was crazy.[Report This]
Giles is losing a lot of the sympathy I felt for him before. Well it's hard to feel much sympathy for anyone but Spike at this point. And I can't just understand how they can let Angel near Buffy with his history.
Spike's thoughts are fittingly conflicted when he knows about Buffy.[Report This]
Does Buffy not remember Angelus killed her parents?! I think he killed Jenny too, and Giles is ok with Angel playing the good vampire?! KILL Angel, kill Walsh, have Giles fired and banished, and have Wesley become her new Watcher!!! Wesley was a better Watcher in the end anyway! 🤬[Report This]
I really love this story, lots going on and much angst. Don't know why Buffy doesn't remember Angel from when she was 5 but maybe he was either in game face or she has selective memory loss but Dawn as always will get to the heart of the matter. Hopefully Joyce clocking him on the back of the head has broken the chip and now they are all together the true story will come out. Can't wait[Report This]
So far the only character that isn't really pissing me off is Spike LOL. Even Buffy has morphed to someone not so nice (same with Dawn). I don't like Buffy's attitude nor her acting out with Faith (Dawn is doing the same thing with her friends too for that matter).
Joyce has allowed Angelus to be around Buffy and that makes me angry with her. She must have kept the memories of Spike and how Buffy and Dawn came to her secret too for Buffy to not remember. I'd have thought that Joyce would have kept her loyalties to Spike. I don't blame her for divorcing Giles at all... at ALL. He is really despicable in this story, his worst self. A total bigot even when he has plenty of evidence that should have made him question his beliefs and choices.
Don't get me started with Travers and Walsh! They are extreme villains! Of course they were terrible in canon too.
I hope that Spike evades recapture and gets any implants out of his body.
I want Walsh destroyed, utterly destroyed and I'd be perfectly happy for it to be Spike who does it.
Angelus must be dusted, soul or no soul. How he can "love" Buffy now after what he tried to do to her before the soul is horrifying and that doesn't even take into consideration what he did to her blood family.
Sounds like the Council has even more power here than in canon and pretty well "owns" Sunnydale.
Compelling story and I really want to know how you resolve this. I want Buffy back to the sweetness she showed before instead of the kind of a bitch she's become.
I thought Joyce would have been a better influence on both girls but it seems they both are just rebelling like crazy.
A very bitter Joyce, but it's sad to see how Giles is still hoping for them to get back together.
Spike may have made a good first impression in the last chapter but this impression was not so good, at least not at being good. He blames Giles for his imprisonment, so of course he would seek him out. Then Buffy turns up but he doesn't know it's her. Spike has spent 10 years fighting demons, so he would be even better at fighting now. Good description of the fight and how they were thinking. I could practicly see it in front of me, but what will happen now.[Report This]
Okay I think I missed a few chapters. Yikes. I'll put this on my bookshelf tonight and do a re-read and comment this weekend. Don't want to miss anything important.
Glad you are back at it, enjoying the story.
Hell, so Angel is "helping" Buffy now that he has that soul. Doesn't she remember him from childhood? How can she be attracted in the least?
I do hope Buffy remembers her Spike though. He's out for revenge and looks like he's had a bad time of things.
Wonder if he'll really think about just who Dawn is now that she is so much older. They might have learned a lesson, Dawn at least.
I was curious about the "harmless guy with a soul" because I knew it couldn't be Angel, but it was! After the things Angelus did, it was seriously disturbing to see Angel with Buffy. I'm confused now, are they actually two different persons for real? For now this seems really disturbing. Well, I suppose we will get a clearer picture later.
I totally loved the interaction between Spike and Dawn we got to see here.[Report This]
Here came the time jump. The difference in her life has of course made her somewhat different. We have seen the dynamic in this family. I do wonder about 6he harmless person with a soul. Good use of other characters here too.
For Spike, this has been some bad eleven years. I liked the description of his weapons and the fighting. This was some really low standard vampires he though. Walsh and the Initiative are of course awful which we clearly could see. Spike has been patient and slowly worked to get free and it payed of. It was good to see him break free.[Report This]
Well Spike my boy, the girl you protected is now a woman you'll soon fall in love with. This is gonna get interesting. Can't wait to see what you have planned. Digging the story. Nicely done.[Report This]
Really not a good situation for Spike, this horror really is fitting the Initiative. Spike is not one to give up, as we could see so very clearly here. The threat to Buffy was the only thing he responded too. Let's see how this will play out.[Report This]
Of course Spike would be really angry and worried over Buffy being taken. A lot of fighting going on but described well, and Buffy managed to be saved. Not Spike though, not a good situation for him. I must admit that Maggie played it well here. It was a really good plan for her.
I can understand Giles on some level but I still don't like how he acts.
It seems like we have the possibility for a time jump but we will see if that happens.[Report This]
Spike is in a terrible situation. I'm assuming Travers is planning to put a soul into Angelus while Maggie is going to try to break Spike to her will.
He'll do anything he must to keep Buffy safe though even if he has to answer to Walsh and bide his time.
Nice to see this return.
You are making me scared. And it is not so easy to do. I am afraid for Summers girls, for Spike, for everyone who may suffer for Angel's cruelty and insane wish to get what he wants.[Report This]
Now we have a lot of people and their plans involved, so many wills and different ideas. Travers is problematic in his own way but Walsh is the scarier one between the two. This doesn't look good for Spike.
Now Angelus is a direct threat, let's see how this will play out.
Thank you for reviewing!
Giles actions seems perfectly right. This situation is a very strange one and it is good to see him being this sceptical. He has no reason to trust Spike. It is sweet to see Spike with Buffy though.
And then we have dark moments with Angelus.[Report This]
This was a strong emotional chapter. Being on the run with two small children like that would of course be difficult for Spike. Poor Buffy has been through a lot and hearing that Spike would leave added to that. It was such a strong scene with her crying and begging him not to leave.
I liked the interaction between Spike and Joyce, clearly there is a lot of history.[Report This]
Was a close call but they managed to getaway. I'm surprised that Angelus didn't go after Spike immediately. Good thing he didn't though.
So Maggie was with the Council in this story. Quentin is as slimy as always.
Too bad Spike didn't kill his "family" then and there. Dru's right, they'll be back.
Thank you for reviewing!
They got out...yay!
Disgusting imagery with Angelus, but that sort of comes with the territory.
Interesting twist, that Maggie Walsh was originally a Council member. That does change things.
Can't wait to see what happens in Sunnydale.
Thank you for reviewing!
A disturbing and intense chapter which fits the situation. It really points out the horror of the life Spike wants to leave behind. For now he and the girls are safe but of course they will meet Angelus again.
The Council can be bad enough but now we also have the beginning of the Initiative.
Thank you for reviewing!
Girls and Spike are safe for now. But it seems there will be a lot of battles ahead. Dru's vision makes me chill.
Thank you for reviewing!
The beginning set the stage really, uncomfortably well for what Spike’s relationships with Angelus and Dru are like with its evocative imagery. I mean that as a compliment. It perfectly conveyed how used and disgusted he is by both of them and himself. The circus setting is awesome! I like spunky bitty Buffy.
Thank you for reviewing (and again)!
