One can guess where my mind went with “finding a rhythm with Spike was disturbingly easy” LOL! You wrote it and had to know this reaction would be elicited.
Why try on wedding clothes? The spell ended. They could have gone back to the dorm.
The_moonmoth (scenes 10 & 11):
Oh sweet Moony. Literary references, a demonic aphrodisiac, and oodles of subtext and (U?)ST. It’s like you know me! <3 <3 <3 Even without counting the scenes, I knew two sentences in that this was you, and I loved every moment. You know very well how much your Spike voice delights me, and your stuck-in-denial Buffy, and, well, everything here. This is both poetic and shameless and utterly perfect. (And you wrote Spuffy again! For me! Even with everything else in your life! <3 I am in tears yet again!)
And yeah, Aristophanes might have been out for cheap laughs, but something about those split-up primordial humans yearning for their lost other halves had always moved him. Spoken to him. Echoed in his empty places. --this is SO SPIKE it hurts.
Twinkles (scene 12 & chapter banner):
<3 the banner! Confused Buffy, confused Spike, confused and terrified Xander… and smirky Willow, speaking no evil… <3
“But Spuffy got here before he could fertilise you.” This sentence should be memorialized.
I love Buffy’s building awareness, and Spike’s subtle and then not-so-subtle advances, and then Buffy’s surrender.
“I'm blaming the pheromones,” she whispered. Then she kissed him. WOO-HOOO!!!
Amid_the_flowers (scene 12):
Ahh! The door kissing scene is super super hot and I love how they’re both surrendering to temptation but still clearheaded enough to fight first. “Not like this” is such a delightful non-rejection…. And poor Xander, all the demons coming to his yard… <3 I feel like I have fewer actual words than I should, but that’s because most of my brain energy is drooling over the lustiness of this whole part.
SzmattyCat (scene 13):
And yay! The farce part of this smutty farce! The fight scene is delightfully wacky, and I love that you gave poor blind Giles the victory over Willow. (I am super interested in why Willow chose to be a vengeance demon in this timeline! Questions unanswered! You should write a side fic!)
“Well, it's all yours! Good luck!” he intoned cheerfully before he blinked out of sight. D’Hoffryn’s brief appearance is just fantastic.
And, well, horny Spike and Buffy double-teaming the Eroin demons is just wonderful. <3
EllieRose (scene 14):
I would like to have coherent words about this, but I honestly have trouble getting past FINALLY! But I do really like how even while they’re indulging their pheromone-enhanced lust (FINALLY!) we have Buffy starting to think and make some important realizations - because yeah, this is another of my Favorite Things, the emotional core of Spuffy, and you portrayed it so beautifully. Buffy’s inner conflict and her resolution and finally succumbing, without any magical influence whatsoever. <3
Sandy_s (scene 15):
Awwww! Shades of “drinking buddies” (another of my favorite canon scenes) and I love how you’ve made it into a bonding scene, both of them trying to get over each other and failing utterly, and finally giving in. Because while I love all the lustiness and the wack and the banter, in the end what I want is for them to have something real. <3 This is charming and heartwarming and a beautiful setup for…
Sunalso (scene 16):
There have been days when I have looked at my Gmail inbox, seen another update on an AoS fic, and wistfully wished you would write more Spuffy again. (Also days I have just gone ahead and read your AoS fic despite having never watched the show, but I digress.) I am so thrilled you came back to the Spuffy sandbox to play, and… wow. What a glorious scene. Hot and romantic and funny and moving and deftly wrapping up the threads of this story in a tight, beautiful love knot. Thank you so much.
Final notes for all: *bows down” I am not worthy! Seriously, this is the best present ever, and future birthdays are going to need to deliver something unbelievable, like a hot date with Matthew Gray Gubler or a pet cheetah, to even compete. I cannot believe I was oblivious to all the sneaky grilling you guys did to plan this, and I am so, so grateful and honored. Thank you!
(also... Sock With a Soul has been a member since November 2015? How? What? How?)
The sock signed up for an account as soon as he was sentient, of course! Or, I (Susan) backdated the account to show the same date Stitched Up was published. Either is a reasonable answer.
I really enjoy the thought of the sock s l o w l y signing up for an EF account. Key by torturous key.
Spike with some sort of parasol has long been a favorite imagining of mine, and it's only one of many things which made me smile here.
Thanks so much!
Okay, I had put together a comment as I read for chapter 2, and then lost it. I have put it together again... and I have to say, re-reading I am even more impressed by how this came together into a story.
Besides, Aristophanes had them joined back-to-back and cartwheeling around all over the place.
OMG did we miss an opportunity.
“Eases the way.” He shrugged, and tried to keep her in focus.
Uh oh... PHEROMONES!
and smooth as silk, timed perfectly, they rose into the air, joined bodies an arc of energy over the demon’s head, and came down with a tuck and roll on the crypt floor behind it
Ah, this is lovely -- two glorious fighters moving as one...
Well, Aristophanes could fuck right off.
You tell him, Spike.
They burst into Giles’ and halted as something thunked into the wall...
I just love that Giles doesn't let a little thing like blindness stop him from using a crossbow.
His eyes flared and he nodded against her forehead, pressing his groin firmly against her. “Bloody right they are.”
I'm not sure this is physically possible, but it's very amusing!
“A little help, here, Spike!” Buffy panted as she drove her booted foot into another demon’s ribs before it could get up. “You won't think I'm so glorious...” she ducked a clawed strike and punched a demon in the side of his head, “...when I'm all dead...” she hooked Spike by the elbow and used him to knock another attacking demon back down on the floor, “...and you're dragging my corpse around at your side!”
Buffy is a very creative fighter! And that would be a bummer, even for a vampire.
The shopkeeper grinned a little to herself. “I think I have what you both need,” she said, placing a bottle of Jack Daniels on the counter.
After handing back the bottle, Spike produced a giant umbrella from behind the dumpster and opened it, slinging it over his shoulder and taking her hand again.
So. Simple. Why the hell don't vampires just go about their business during the day with parasols? And I love that they end up in the Wedding Shop.
“This was sexier in my head,” he said as his fingers curled around her thigh, working their way towards her core. “It’s mostly a lot of fabric.”
As things so often are! But I have faith in Spuffy...
And aww, a sweet thematic ending!
Wow! Thank you so much!
“Hey, Slayer, they teach you any Classics in that parochial little university?”
"You're not a man."/"No, I'm better."
He didn't miss a beat. Beautiful.
“You think that would work? Pissing off this Zeus guy? Because if there’s one thing you’re good at...”
Oh my God, did not see this idea coming
oh no, poor Xander! Go on, team, rescue him!
pheromones are fun, though :)
"Tits were worth fighting for."
Haha, so slapping him in the face backfired :)
"The moment throbbed."
"Eroins lay eggs"
"They burst into Giles’ and halted as something thunked into the wall; she shouted at him to drop the crossbow he was pointing blindly in the rough direction of the door."
OMG, Willow is a demon too now, and that means she's affected!
Yay! Go Giles!
"Just ‘cause he can see again, he has to notice everything."
I liked the umbrella ^^
“There’s so much I want to do to you."
Spike has good ideas :)
"More than a week’s worth of nights."
Love the sound of this
Oh, nice final lines. :)
Wow, thank you so much!
Wow that was on hell of a story. I enjoyed it immensely. You even left it there could be a sequel. Happy Birthday Bewildered. I loved your prezzie.
Thanks for reading!
It was a true joy to read this. As if they didn't have problems enough now they also had to deal with demonic pheromones. We had several amusing moments an erotic build up and some good sexy times at the end.
Willow was true to herself and didn't see that she had done anything wrong.
