Oh my Goddess.. What a chapter. With Xander dead and the torment of Giles and Willow in process. I cant can't wait to see what delicious torment Dusk has for them next. I await the next installment with bated breath.[Report This]
Wow!!! Amazing chapter!! I’m so loving this revenge!! I know is cruel and terrible but is been amazingly done! And is help me get over some of my rage against the Scoobies! I always hate the way they treat Anya and Spike! For me they don’t have any empathy! They are just incapable of that bc they are too insular! They saw themselves as the center of everything and with the absolute certain that they know what the right thing is!! They are arrogant, controlling and biased!! I have a lot of problems with the 3 of them! But I think the biggest is they never face consequences for the shit they do!! Xander kill people when he summoned Sweet, no consequences, he is not even call out for doing that! That’s is just one of many examples of that happening in the series! So I’m really happy seeing they have to pay for their actions for a change!!! Destroy them all! And please more[Report This]
that was just awesome. I am glad that Willow was tricked to do that spell. Again her ignorance was what they used to get her to perform Tate spell in the first place. I am glad that Bella is coming into her own though.[Report This]
So now, Giles has to live with what he did, Willow doesn’t have her magic anymore. In her arrogance, she didn’t even check the spell. I really like the way the gang treats Bella. None will f this is her fault and she was treated horribly by Willow. I’m glad she knows that what Willow did to her wasn’t OK. Thank you for this update, I was missing this story so much!!![Report This]
Another dark chapter, rape and eternal torment, heavy stuff. It is disturbing to see this but that is also part of the fascination this is holding. Willow should have checked what kind of magic she actually was doing. Apparently this bound Willow's and Giles souls to eternal torment but that should mean that Xander's soul is free unless the magic reached it?
There shouldn't be much more to do now.[Report This]
i think my favorite part of the chapter was the short conversation between dusk and bella. i like that the group really embraced her as a person and not treated her like a thing. bella was right; buffy/dusk could have destroyed the robot but didn’t. and i thought it was interesting that buffy/dusk blushed at bella’s heartfelt words.
and spike’s teasing – poor bella! but she was right to leave buffy/dusk and spike alone. (i'd love to see her reaction -- and possible bit of revenge on spike -- when she realizes exactly what spike was implying ... )
as for vampire-giles … this is where it get very layer-y in the conflict. on one hand giles agreed to be turned in order for him to apologize; that says to me he’s unconsciously thinking he’ll be more like spike when he was first turned – atleast towards his loves ones (spike still loved his mother). and before he was turned we did see slivers of the man he was before made the awful choice. on the other hand, vampire-giles, especially when he came face to face with buffy/dusk really had no redemptive qualities – he was a creepy old guy, who used his arrogance like a shield. he totally deserved the smack-down from willy’s patrons (and kudos for those demons respecting buffy/dusk) and most especially from buffy/dusk. (especially with all his intelligence, he rather thought he could try to fool buffy/dusk by trying to appeal to her vanity for forgiveness; stupid vampire!)
i think my second favorite part of the chapter was the brief interlude in spike pondering the reports of vampire-giles’ actions. we do get to see the brief flaring of acknowledgement of sliver-affection – from both spike and buffy/dusk regarding giles and angelus. i think its like a balm in a storm of pain. It’s very easy to focus on the revenge and not acknowledge the feelings of the past (affection for her father figure, affection for his vampiric family). it’s fleeting, the bouts of sliver-affection, but it’s important. and you addressed it very, very nicely.
ah the brief moments of humor – cordy and her clever tongue. it’s always fun watching her wield it like a weapon dressed up in humor.
i’m confused at willow’s outrage that cordy wouldn’t stay and wave around the smelly stuff. willow has two hands, why can’t she do it herself? or does she think as the person doing the magic she’s beneath preparations? from how she acts, it sounds like it’s the latter, but i could be wrong …
for all of willow’s intelligence, she really didn’t think things through when she started the spell; buffy/dusk and her team basically counted on that fact. and it paid off, and as usual, there’s always consequences in which willow has basically sluffed off. Until now. having one’s magic ripped from your body … i shuddered at the description. it sounds like it’s basically like ripping off all of your skin from it’s bones. (hmm – just got the visual of willow flaying warren like that …)
soulful-vampire-giles … this is the giles that we’ve known. and it’s sad that he finally realized exactly his part in all of this, no matter how misguided his actions were due to affection for willow.
now i’m wondering if buffy/dusk will continue to let him live and suffer his consequences, or, if soulful-vampire-giles will stake himself or walk into the sun?
very, very good chapter!!![Report This]
I felt a wee bit sorry for Willow... until I was reminded that if she'd really wanted to, she could have freed herself with a word and immediately punished Giles.
And Giles now understands Angel a lot better... and if he has enough time left, he'll shortly understand that Angel's claim of being a different person than Angelus, and that therefore Angelus' actions were Not His Fault (while simultaneously claiming to be seeking atonement for them) is a load of bollocks.[Report This]
Now Spike is starting to think about what happens after. He has done what he can to help Dusk with her revenge without her getting too many things to feel guilty over. Having Giles do the deed, spared Buffy. I liked Spike's thought that Dusk's hair could become golden again, a symbol for her getting out of the darkness and becoming Buffy again.
Nice to see them changing Bella to be more of her own person. It was also good to see Cordelia getting some revenge on Willow.
I shouldn't but I really liked reading about Ripper as he calls himself now, dark but oh so good.[Report This]
"At the moment, Dusk was claiming she wouldn't care if she killed them, but he knew his girl. Once the dust settled over her rage, the guilt would eat her alive." Yes, I've been worrying about how Buffy will react once all the vengeance is complete and her anger fades. I'm glad Spike is taking care to minimise the guilt for her as much as he can.
And Giles has learned that the Council dogma regarding vampires is... inaccurate. But he's having so much fun!
And Willow still hasn't given up her compulsion to fix things...
I like that Spike changed Bella's features slightly, to make her an individual rather than a copy of Buffy.
Love that Willow sees that Cordelia now lives in her family home, whereas she has no home herself. And to her chagrin, she needs Cordy's help.
I wonder if Giles will regret not finishing Willow off at once? Or would that have been worse for him? I long to know what he'll be like once he has his soul back...[Report This]
Spike is SO right and very loving Once the dust settled over her rage, the guilt would eat her alive. He wanted to avoid that That's the thing that's been hanging over them really. Buffy can't live forever in the dark without losing herself and Spike wants her to be whole. His plan is sound one. Revenge is had and She's had a big part in bringing it about BUT she hasn't gone over a line that she can't re-cross.
No conscience with Giles the Vampire. He's Ripper with fangs. Xander is history and I love the comment that rape is not appreciated. That will save Willow from that though he's going to die anyway. Cool how they are using Giles to do the actual killing. He is the one who placed the idea out there that led to Xander killing Dawn after all.
Buffy really didn't know Giles as well as she thought. That IS the human in him... just unleashed. Like Liam when he took on the demon. The difference is the human. William was a good and loving man.
Nice touch having Cordy and Lindsey living in Willow's childhood home. Cordy got in some good digs too.
Think about THAT Willow... stew on it a bit. Ripper will do her in time but I'm thinking they'll put the soul in him to make him feel the horror of what he's done (he'll likely stake himself in the end). Nice and tidy. Spike is a clever one with plans. He knows their enemy well.
They are going to do each other in and that is just perfect. Giles is not going to get his prize because he doesn’t still learn. But to have Spike put this plan in motion to still save her is perfect.[Report This]
That's Spike for you, always wanting Buffy to stay true to herself, to let her light shine. Giles is going to be so horrified when he gets his soul back. He will have a lot to think about. Willow seeing that Cordy now owns her parents house was funny.[Report This]
