It's good that she's going to leave Sunnydale and make a sanctuary named for Dawn. It's fitting all around. It also shows that bitterness isn't totally consuming her any longer. She hasn't been destroyed.
Yeah, Giles, learning that the soul doesn't make you good or even really act as a leash unless you want it too. He could admit, begrudgingly, that the chip wasn’t the only thing that stopped Spike from wreaking havoc in Sunnydale, nor stopped him from killing them, in so many ways that didn't require laying a finger on them. Late to the realizations but still gratifying to read. Oh, how being on the other side of the fence could change someone's views and so very quickly.
Giles could have given Angel lessons in brooding LOL At least his musings are starting out honest about himself as a human as well as demon.
Talk about learning the hard way! In his final moments, Giles acknowledged that saving the world didn’t justify sacrificing an innocent.
The sun kept rising, washing the path that led to the forest in its yellow rays, caressing the two innocent victims in its warmth, as if showing them the way to Heaven. Lovely imagery here.
Yes, she's regaining her old self to a degree and Spike is at her side to help her navigate her way to who she is going to be going forward.
I love that Giles realized that all that Spike is and went through was not easy and that he made the best with what he was dealt and that the Scoobies were not the epitome of good that they thought they were. I also love that Dusk became Buffy again and that she let herself grieve for Giles, she needed to grieve him for herself and not for him. Of course, Spike knew it all along, he always knew her better than she knew herself. This was a fantastic chapter![Report This]
this made me cry in so many ways - my thoughts were always troubled with giles. he was the only one of the three that seemed to wrestle with his thoughts and beliefs, unlike xander and willow. both were either arrogant (willow) or delusional (xander thinking buffy would be grateful to him for killing her sister), and their actions showed this.
i'm glad buffy, not dusk, was able to mourn the man who was her father.
and now they will have to decide what to do about willow.
the end is near it seems, but it's but one hell of a ride!! thank you for this intensely wonderful story!![Report This]
We are really close to the end, the revenge is fulfilled and Dusk has chosen to become Buffy again. I do enjoy the fact that things looks good for Warren. It's not a big part but it is so extremely rare, that it is good to see.
It was good to see Buffy feeling some sadness for Giles being gone, for the good times they did have. It really was an emotional moment when she thought about those things she would miss. I'm glad that she did release him from eternal torment, eternity is a very long time.[Report This]
I'll admit I expected Giles to be stronger than that, and to last rather longer than he did.
But I'm glad that he recognised how un-white-hat-like his attitude to Dawn was, and also to newly-chipped Spike. Spike who had voluntarily surrendered himself to them for sanctuary from the Initiative, yet was treated like a hostile captive. And who demonstrated exceptional self-control in the process.
I'm glad that Dusk has reverted to Buffy, and allows herself to mourn Giles...[Report This]

Hello, my Russian friend,
I have no idea what you wrote, all I see are random letters and numbers, however, thank you for stopping by and taking the time to leave a comment.
Feedback, even in the form of a "like" is what motivates us to keep on writing.
I am not sure why Giles is still in limbo. Not alive but hasn’t been taken out of his misery but maybe that is the real point. And Willow just never learns. Because she was in a huge hurry she didn’t take the time to make sure she had the right spell. And to threaten Dusk yet again is just dumb. This is just an awesome story. I just always thought that Willow wasn’t always a team player. She just has to be right. Where Tara always wanted to use her magic for the better of other people. She just needed to work on her confidence and here Faith has given her support in ALL things. Great chapter because this is setting up another Willow take down if she doesn’t learn her lesson.[Report This]
Love it!!! Giles and Willow facing the pain they made others feel. I love that Spike does everything he can so that Buffy won’t eventually feel the guilt and have her hands covered in the blood of those she used to call friends. Giles was quite right in the show when he said that « Buffy isn’t like the rest of us » Great chapter!!!
Don’t worry about not writing fast enough, I much rather have quality chapters than rushed ones!!![Report This]
Incredible chapter! I knew going in that there would be serious revenge in many ways and I think that it's definitely paying off!
I'm sure that there isn't a whole ton of story left (however please continue with this for as long as possible) and I can honestly say that it's been quite the journey! Very happy to have been along for the ride!!
I think that Giles is beginning to understand. At last.
But Willow still thinks she's better than everyone else, and only says sorry because she thinks Buffy will undo what was done and she can stop hurting, not because she sincerely regrets her selfish, arrogant actions. She's sorry for herself, not for what she did. At least this time, she didn't try to buy forgiveness with cookies.
