I enjoyed this story; it was a nice alternative version of these characters’s lives. I enjoyed how it wove existing canon and quotes around events and characters that were changed due to Spike’s entry into her life earlier, and Dru’s mostly off screen support of Spike’s pursuit of Buffy. Very nice.[Report This]
I liked having her articulate her tangly reasons for wanting to keep their relationship hidden for now. I think if she ever had, in the show, she might have come to a clearer decision. Of course, I’m the show, she still was burdened by her fantasies of Angel, so she likely would still have logicked herself to a less sensible decision. Still, it was nice to hear where this Buffy is coming from. :)[Report This]
I like how the events we saw on the show are different because She perceives things differently. She isn’t vulnerable to Angel’s approaches, and she isn’t as swayed by peer pressure. She’s more “grown up.”[Report This]
I really like how this story begins, with her Valley Girl personality facing Merrick. All three of their inner Thoughts are excellent. And, add to that, I now have a life’s goal to find an occasion when I can utter “I have huge antlers growing out of my buttocks.” I love a challenge!
I'm kind of interested in the concept of Kendra's sister and how different that would be.
No loss with Travers and I loved Giles' assumptions. “Who the fuck you think I am? Godfather's fangy version?” LOL. He does think Spike has great power and reach (that had to chuff Spike at least... still got it!).
Excellent. Loved this.
I have been so behind on my reading (like, ridiculously so) and I thought for sure I'd have the chance to catch up on this absolutely wonderful fic of yours before it ended and.... I didn't. So first, YAY IT'S DONE!!! And also, BOO IT'S DONE!!
In all seriousness, though, thank you so much for picking up my challenge and writing this fabulous take on our favorite pair. They're so loving and happy as they drive Giles around the bend
Also, three cheers for Dru! I so love what you did with her storyline, and how you had her essentially single-handedly take down the Initiative AND Travers.
Also, giving Dawn to Kendra is a *fascinating* idea! I wonder if that means Glory will show up there, or if Kendra and Dawn will end up in Sunnydale some day....
Love this, darling!!
You've tied up a lot of loose ends, but where's Faith? Did I see her and just forgot, or is she still running from Kokistos? If she is, I would love to see her end up a member of the family. I could see her training with Spike and all of a sudden her strikes are stronger...cause Kendra died. Would Sam keep Dawn with him, or would he send her to be with the two Slayers, for her own protection? Is Glory and her portal still a factor? Good stories, like this one, suck me into their world and won't let me go until I know every detail. In other words, I would gladly read any/everything you write for this.
All very good questions and I'll try to answer as best I can. Faith was never mentioned for the simple fact that Kendra never died, the Jamaican Slayer actually learned something in her brief visit to the Hellmouth, namely how to fight dirty and stay alive. When she'd visited the Hellmouth Kendra spoke about a dark force about to arise, which in my story as you saw wasn't Angelus. It could've been about the Mayor or Glory, we know how those tricky prophecies work.
Anyway, as I said in my note, I don't know if I ever write another story in this verse, 'coz I kinda have two stories in working and one complete which still needs a bit of polishing, but if I do, let's just say you put some ideas in my head.
Thanks for stopping by,
Seeing Buffy and Spike this good together is always nice. I liked all the interaction we saw, it took some time before Giles got to tell the news. That Travers is dead and the Initiative stopped is of course good things. Dru left more clues than a signed note would have. We already knew it was her but now the others will know that too.
So Kendra got Dawn as a sister, she had a more stable situation than Faith so it make sense that the monks could have sent Dawn there. A good place to end the story.[Report This]
Ooh! So since Kendra didn't die to be replaced by Faith, Dawn has gone to Kendra instead of Buffy! That means no leap into the unknown for Buffy. Nifty.
And I always wondered whether Travers was aware of the Initiative, so that part isn't beyond the realms of possibility. That means Dru has effectively put paid to the worst canon Big Bads of the next two years, so I wonder what Buffy and Spike will face instead?
Thanks for a most enjoyable story.
This was a very couply chapter, everyone seems to be pairing up, which is nice to see. We also got some happy friendliness over the fact that the plan seemed to be working ( at the end we knew that it did work). We had several good little moments from the couple's and I really liked how Buffy and Spike talked about Joyce and Dalton.[Report This]
They are all coupling up nicely. I love the combinations.
YES The Mayor would have a literal heart attack with all the sneezing pee and other germs. I'm surprised he didn't keel over in the auction room! I love how you handled his demise.
I can see Dalton being that shy bug Joyce will bring him along nicely. Lovely thought about her possibly mating with him and being there to share in Buffy's life that way. (Maybe Xander too).
