Interesting beginning. I think most of us agree that is Buffy had a perfect match, a "soul-mate"...it would be Spike.
I like the idea of brain mapping like that. Wonder what the glitch was and the impact it will have. I was glad she knew ahead of the mapping that Angel was not her perfect match.
So Spike came back like in canon and Giles kept it from her. That just sounds too plausible. I can't wait to see what she does now.
Very interesting start. I have very much enjoyed your other works here and they are in my faves list. I saw in the above review mentioned that this was the first fail? Is this part of the computer program? I had assumed when you said 7 years later that this was reality, but I suppose this would be a possible reality if we had ended in canon after the Buffy and Angel finales as it would be a close possibility if nothing else changed from canon. However, if Buffy is going through the scenarios to find her soulmate, we can throw a lot of canon away if she finds him early. I just want to make sure I am understanding. Is this the first fail? For Angel, perhaps Giles even? She seemed to already be discarding Angel back when she was doing the test. Or is this really 7 years later in reality? Sorry if I am confusing. I had assumed reality, but then I read the review and wondered if I was completely missing the point.
I did love that she broke Giles's leg. Poor Buffy. I hate that she would have suicidal thoughts, but understand why she would. I admit at first I was thinking she was possibly going to break the scythe and was having a moment wondering what that would do.
I do agree with you completely about Xander and Dawn. By the end of the series, I think he had very few good qualities and a huge amount of bad ones including hypocrisy, bigotry, misogyny, and he was emotionally abusive to not only obviously to Anya, but to Buffy as well. His possessive controlling attitude with all of Buffy's decisions he disagreed with in both her person life and in slaying was very abusive in my opinion.
Hi Maarella, sorry you found it confusing, I suppose it will become clearer in later chapters but what was happening was Buffy thought she had taken off the helmet and lived her life, all seven years of it and at the end didn't end up with the guy; who is of course Spike. ***Simulation Fail****
Now the next simulation will start, a different scenario with the same players and The version of Buffy experiencing it will again be unaware it is a simulation.
I think I might have to change the title though, a promise of 99.8% happy endings sort of takes the mystery out of it, but I'm glad you liked it!
I really liked Buffy's thoughts while she was answering the questions. This was before she was convinced that she belonged with Angel. We can see it so clear here that their relationship was doomed, he wasn't what Buffy needed or even wanted.
Then we had this long timejump. I liked Buffy's anger at Giles here. So this was a first fail. It will be interesting to see how this will go.
The comics don't do anyone justice, feel free to ignore them, that's for the best. I must admitt that I liked the IDW comics about "after the fall" universe though, but the season comics are awful.
Thanks for the review, glad you liked it! Some people might disagree with this but I thought that by the later seasons it was as if the writers didn't care as much about the show. They just slotted Dawn in and Buffy called her a brat and fought with her all the time until she found out she was the key. My problem was I have two older sisters and even though we're not close we never talked to each other like that. The whole thing was a bit forced.
