Have I mentioned that I love Spike living specifically the SOULED version of Buffy?
Yeah, he fell in love with all of her. It's a terrible thing, poor Spike. As I said, things were going to get complicated for the future, but again... ah well. This story is fin how it is for now. Maybe after my baby fic I'll be desperate enough to revisit the sucker.
Paper trails lead to the Watcher’s Council. - Oh, that's priceless.
Also, Willow.... *shakes head*
"Buffy used to second guess herself all the time. You know what? I hate that about Buffy.” - GO Slayer!!
.... ooo, on the edge of my seat to see a soulless Buffy. Also, I hypothesize that it won't happen actually. Buffy with perfect happiness? She's a little too neurotic for that, imo. I guess we'll see!
Slayer knows not to second guess herself like Buffy used to. She's decided she wants to fuck Spike. She is going to fucking do it, dammit!
If you want their funding cut, this should do it. Perfect way to put a stake in the Initiative.
There were no demons, or if there were, the men of the Initiative hadn’t been capturing them. The whole of the demonic underground was an elaborate ruse to milk money out of the government. Ooooo a perfect story for Frothy (Alex Jones of "Infowars" infamy. Mr. conspiracy himself. If you've never actually seen him...he practically froths at the mouth).
Buffy, how could you? So Willow fully expects Buffy to be celibate for eternity! Why not try making a new curse to anchor the soul? I think part of Willow's actions are a subconscious revenge for Buffy releasing Angelus years ago. So judgmental! Cruel too.
Slayer wanted to be annoyed that Willow was more worried about her boyfriend troubles than she had been about her friend being missing, (or the whole curse conversation, which seemed to have completely fallen out of Willow’s head already) Yes because just as in canon there is NOTHING more important than Willow's love problems and by God everyone shall drop their own problems to eat ice cream and commiserate with her. . Buffy has been held in a hell hole. She is condemned to a life with NO lovelife (or so they think). She was forced to continue eternity as a souled vampire when she wished to be permitted to die....BUT none of that comes close to the horror of Oz going off to try to control the wolf. There are times I really want to smack the crap out of Willow (but there is so much crap my hand will not survive the job).
Paper trails lead to the Watcher’s Council Oh I love this little detail. And Buffy thinks she's not evil LOL.
Awww he's offering to rid her of that soul and she's offering him a life with pigs blood. Not quite on the same page just yet.
I just cracked up with this exchange: Suddenly Spike grinned. “Want to play Twenty Questions?” he asked. ... Slayer looked up, relieved. “I’m thinking of an object.” ... “Stake.” ... “Got me. Your turn.” It tickled me more than it should have.
bathroom of this place has a bath tub big enough for two There is NOTHING like sharing a tub, not even a shower can touch it. Actually one of the pieces of advice I give when asked is to bathe each other as often as possible whether it leads to sex or not. It is so hard to be angry with your partner when you've just done all that loving touching. Just like primates and their grooming it really does cause a bond (but I digress)...
“First off, if this is over in a few minutes, stake me. I’ll deserve it." LOL Yeah I imagine he'd want to be dust to have his pride destroyed by having it over that quickly.
What would she be as a pure demon? He really couldn’t picture it. ... Which frightened him. Because right now, he loved her more than he had ever loved anything. This would be a particular worry given what happened with his mother. He held on to much of his own humanity but he saw clearly that is not the case all the time. He loves her but if she's totally different he would be faced with the horror of knowing she was in truth dead.
She should wonder why Spike is so different from Angel. I hate that she thinks she is in love with that bastard especially now that she sees he may not be the template of what a vampire must be. She has examples not just with Spike but with Angel's boys too.
I just don't think Willow is thinking very clearly about what this means for Buffy. I don't think she thought about what Angel getting his soul back would mean for Buffy. Willow and Xander both had a lot of flaws. Xander's are more problematic, but Willow's always error on the side of hubris, while Xander's error on the side of... stupid teenage boy. As a result, most of his seem more forgivable.
I had to try and go out of my way to work out what Spike and Slayer were going to be once the urgency was out of their relationship. They were in the same cell, fighting the same enemy. Once they are out of that situation, they're going to have to figure out what they are to each other, and they've both realized that already. They're both stating basically what they want, and neither of them have agreed yet, but they're still on the same page. They haven't entirely left that world, that liminal space between enemy and the enemy of my enemy is default my friend. So the only thing they can do is... play twenty questions. They know how to do that.
And then we get the awkward transitional phase, as they cross from that liminal space into what they will become... and this is where Buffy chooses the reality, she is a vampire, she's going to commit to being a vampire, and being with a vampire, and this is just where she is. And it's awkward, and Spike does his best to help her push through it. But this was why she wanted to get to her own lair, there is nothing like your own space to make great big life-changing decisions like what you want to be for the rest of your life.
Which means, of course, the decision has already been made, even before the whole soul thing. And of course in the next chapter we get to see how that works out....
I like where this is going...
Either Buffy's not about to lose her soul (which is what I think will happen), or she'll lose it but still mostly be herself (which I think will happen later, when she's fully fallen, and it truly is a moment of happiness).
The surprising thing is that she's okay with what's happening. I think she's sick of fighting, which is totally understandable.
She is utterly, UTTERLY sick of fighting. It's a crappy curse. I swear that thing isn't just a soul, it's a CURSED soul... and we'll figure that out later, I'm sure. If I bother writing sequels...
Great chapter! The plan for getting rid of the Initiative was very clever. Willow was really helpful, although I still think she’s a bad friend.
“I could never think straight around Angel.” “Yeah, he’s had that effect on a few people.” “I still love him,” she said abruptly. Spike let that hang there for a long moment. “I know.” Ugh. Spike has a hole in his head, but perhaps it was Buffy who needed a lobotomy.
I loved the ending, it was sweet. Looks like it’s not only Buffy who is concerned about the consequences of her decision.
Now comes the moment of truth.
Well, she's still twisted up. Actually, she almost HAS to love him right now, he's her sire, and she's still a fledge. Minion instinct? Hello, it's there.
I suppose that is as good plan they can get. They have thought it through and has planned well. Getting help from Willow was a good idea. Willow is rather self absorbed, she's thinking more about her own problems than what Slayer is going through. She of course wanted to do the curse thing again if Slayer lost it. It does seem like she got through to Willow, that she didn't want that. I don't really trust Willow though.
Buffy knows that she wants Spike but she is scared about what happens if she lose the soul. Spike is actually a bit worried too. It is an unusual situation, so they aren't sure what to expect. Spike's memories of his mother probably worries him too.
I don't think Buffy will lose her soul now, she's too nervous to be perfectly happy and I do hope it takes more than sex.
Yeah, Spike probably is considering his mother a lot, and he loves Slayer as she is. He's willing to love her regardless, though...
Fantastic chapter. I'm relieved they're finally free of the Initiative. Calling on Willow for help was a good idea, although I wasn't too impressed with her borderline condescension regarding the soul. If she truly cares about her friend, she'd let her make decisions for herself. The end of the chapter was very sweet. Looking forward to more. :)
Willow has problems, and I'm just carrying them on from canon I'm afraid. She... really doesn't get it. But she isn't saying she can't make this decision, just that it seems dangerous... I'm so glad you're liking it!
Hey, Spike likes coriander! :) We have that in common.
"Spiked" the drink. Heh.
I like that Buffy chose to lose the soul and that Spike persuaded her not to do it as an emergency measure.
Yeah, much better to have time and determination when it comes to such delicate operations....
As for the spices, I was looking up which ones go good with raw meat. I figured that would translate to blood fairly well.
You're evil. It's the middle of the night here, I'm just done with a ten-hour-shift, and now I have to wait for the good stuff! Well. This was good already, considering I'm actually a fan of plot. Still can't decide what kind of end I'm hoping for though. Sigh. Also, kinda curious if Willow will be an idiot and call Angel. It all adds up to a very loud: MORE MORE MORE (I'll even add a rebel yell to make it into a bad pun, if it speeds the next chapter up ^^).!
lol. Well, given this is only rated R, the good stuff is... sort of blurry watercolor, but. Only one chapter and an epilogue left!
Well. On one hand: no more cliffhanger! On the other: no more chapters:(.
It's a hang up. Still evil!
Well... I was debating a couple sequels... If I ever do write Slayer Fallen or Slayer Eternal, well....
Whooooop!!!! I'll be waiting. With bells on.
Well, it's not a PROMISE....
I can live with that. Good things are worth waiting for. Also, I've the writers block from hell. Haven't been able to write properly for months, so right now I live off the imagination of others. I'm veeeeery patient ;).
Willow WTF?! You know for most part I always understood where canon Willow was coming from, I mean who in this life hasn't thought a sister or a friend would be happier if only made better choices, imagine have the power to actually do something about it like Willow had, but then you grow up, star making your own mistakes and realize the idiocy of that idea, Willow, I think never did, I think she mostly blamed on the magic.
Another thing that is shockingly obvious is how self centered she was, I don't know how I forgot that, because it goes hand and hand with her God complex (I never like how is call that way given how one of the most important thing in almost all religions is the idea of free will, but well ..)
Somehow I don't think you will have Buffy soulless and if not I hope you will have her realize that Angel let a little detail out as chastity belt (who? me ?loving Angel bashing ? Nu hu. .eye shifting the to vudu doll. ..)
I don't Angel bash. I don't need to, he has enough character flaws on his own.
Willow, however... yeah. She is very selfish, and always was. "Let Spike go, even though we don't know if he might be able to kill. I want to watch steel magnolias!" Yeah. No, Will.
YAY, getting rid of the initiative and sweet sexy times. In a bath. Somehow, I don't think it'll make Slayer lose her soul though. She thinks it's sex, I get that, but since it's happiness... I think it's going to take something more than simple sex. Besides, you adore torturing us. :)
Torture? Me? YOU? I wouldn't...
Clear sign I'm old now: I am equally keen on those two getting it on, and being sure Spike doesn't get water in his cranium. Even for a vampire, that seems like a problem.
Lol. He's not going to sink down under, and there is a bandage over it. Right now they're just kissing.
Yes. But, y'know, hypothetically (and fictionally), WERE Willow to have been asking questions in order to figure out whether or not to stuff an unwanted soul up Spike's butt, I might have to fictionalize myself and go in and hurt her. I know vampBuffy is already there to do that, but I'd assist.
t19;The suspense! Love it so much, can't wait for tomorrow. When I first started reading I had to go back cuz I thought I skipped a chapter but I realized my boo boo.
Nope. It's all there. *cracks knuckles*
