I really enjoyed this exploration of Buffy's thoughts and feelings after the Will Be Done spell. There's so much glorious tension and self-denial and helpless sexual attraction. And Spike's facial expressions as he watches her are perfect. Great story!

I love this. How could it not be in her mind after that spell?

Right? And a belated thank you biggrin

Loved this peek into Buffy's brain!! Lol And you totally kept your promise to put them back on the shelf. Can we have a sequel from Spike's POV?? smile

Author's Response on November 22, 2017 04:18pm

Well, the muse hasn't cooperated yet, but 1) never say never and 2) she listens to other people much more than she listens to me... so you never know.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Firstly, can I say: excellent concept. I'm lolling already.

Really, I could sit here all day and watch the GIF in the story banner.

I have been poked about some kind of sequel... my muse is kinda awkward, but I am not ruling it out!

Thanks for the review flowers

This made me chuckle and smile! I didn't look at anything too closely aside from your excellent descriptions and how well you seemed to capture Buffy's bad, rambling brain. Great work, thoroughly enjoyable!

Author's Response on September 08, 2016 10:30am

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it! It was decidedly silly - apparently my muse needed a break from all the angst wink - but it was a lot of fun to write!

Oh the sacrifices Buffy feels she must make for the good of mankind!  *snorfle*.

I really enjoyed this and can so easily see Buffy's mind going down just this path.

LOVE the banner (and the others you have had on stories that use GIF's)...the expressions are perfect.

I know, it must be terrible gawking at Spike for the sake of the job...haha Honestly, if Buffy's mind didn't go down this path a time or two, I'd be amazed!

Glad you like the banner. I was planning to use a screen cap of them glaring at one another - it's not like there's a shortage of those from this part of canon - but that gif was just too perfect.

Stop teasing us, and write the next chapter already!! Everyone knows if those two had gotten together in season 4 so much would have been less painful for all concerned!!

haha well never say never, 'cause my muse rarely lets me in on what will inspire her next rolleyes1 Thanks for the review biggrin

There really should have been a lot more fallout in canon over that spell (it's not like Ethan's Halloween one didn't have lingering effects- that part is canon). I really feel like they were setting up something Spuffy in S4 (with the spell as a testing the waters, and the whole people can be as bad as demons thing with the initiative, and the relationship between Willow and Tara which could have paralleled Spike and Buffy's, and then Riley would have been misdirection) I feel like S4 started out to be something that then didn't happen for whatever reason (Adam is lame, seriously lame).

Anyway, I had fun with this little story and Buffy sticking at least her pinky toe out of denial river ;-)

Author's Response on September 04, 2016 08:46am

I think you're right about them testing the waters with various things but never quite going for it in S4.

Where Spuffy is concerned, as well as Something Blue you have the whole "Ride you at a gallop till your knees buckled" conversation between Spike and not-Buffy, which plainly sets up that Spike has the hots for Buffy, at least on a sexual level... and then you have Superstar; I always feel like watching that episode, if the spell hadn't been broken, Spuffy would've happened in no time at all. There's not masses of Spuffy, but what's there? That whole hair-touchy-Sweet-Slayer moment for example is really... intense. It's like, when Buffy wasn't herself, they were all over the possibility of Spuffy, but they weren't quite ready to go there for real.

I kinda get the impression they didn't really know what the hell they were doing in season four/they were making it up as they went along, and didn't really plan out their endgame. On the plus side, I feel like season five they planned much more carefully, so I guess they learned from their mistakes!

I'm glad you enjoyed biggrin it was fun to write, too wink thanks for the review!

Oh!  I can so totally see this happening!  Great one-shot!

This was so much fun; being privy to Buffy's internal turmoil while Spike silently teases her mercilessly with his smirks and sexy tongue porn.  (C'mon! When Spike curls that tongue behind his teeth, it's just plain naughty and he knows it!)  He's enjoying making the Slayer squirm.  (And, we love him for being such a rascal.)

Hilarious follow-up to Something Blue!  Kudos!

Author's Response on September 04, 2016 08:16am

Thanks for the lovely review flowers

Yeah, I have no doubt whatsoever that Spike knows exactly what he's doing with all the tongue porn. (As, I dare say, did James Marsters when he decided the whole tongue curling thing was going to be a Spike trademark *totally unconvincing glare in his direction.) Being in a position to make Buffy all embarrassed and kinda hot under the collar would give him such satisfaction, the rascally lil rascal.

(Rascal is a perfect word for Spike - I mean, a slightly old-fashioned word for mischievous and badly behaved? That's practically the dictionary definition of Spike haha)

Naughty Spike, teasing her like that, what with the tongue rolls and everything. drool

Hmm, where was I blush  Oh yes, leaving you a review ;)  He knows how to push all the Scoobie's buttons, doesn't he?  He's certainly aware of her interest, and is having fun with it.  Good fun for us too, and I can totally picture this happening.

Thank you for the lovely review!

Yes, Spike always was good at reading situations and people. I don't think the Scoobies give him much credit for that, so they're much less cautious around him than they probably should be. He definitely knows how to wind them up... and Buffy in particular! He wouldn't miss out on a chance to make her squirm rolleyes1 which is very entertaining for the rest of us devil

Love Buffy's inner monologue. She hasn't quite dived deeply into that Egyptian river yet, but she's definitely paddling that way from the shallows...

Spike is such a cheeky one, as well as being much more observant than the Scoobies usually realise or credit him for. I'm sure he'd be very aware of Buffy having conflicted feelings over him, and he'd definitely do his best to keep her off balance devil

Great one-shot!

Buffy's inner turmoil is very authentic. It sounds just like her and her problem is understandable. I think everybody who - even if it was only once - saw Spike roll his tongue behind his teeth can understand her dilemma perfectly blush

Well written and the last sentence is just fantastic!

Author's Response on September 03, 2016 08:48am

I'm so glad it rang true for you! I think even season four Buffy, who's busy pining after Angel and trying to convince herself into a relationship with Captain Cardboard, couldn't help but notice that Spike was a striking and passionate kind of guy.

I am sort of in love with all those cheeky things Spike does with his lips/tongue/teeth, so if there's an excuse to bring them up... blushdevilhaha

Thank you for the lovely review!
