Hooray for random story generators! This little tidbit was the perfect way to start my day.
I love this! I love how *real* it felt and how easily it flowed from the less deadly (for Buffy anyway) ending of the Glory arc. It was fun watching her emerge from that famous Egyptian river inch by dripping inch, and I loved the hopeful note you ended on. So if it feels wrong to you…penis curse offer is still open. But if you’re just worried about what other people think, then don’t be. You get to make the rules for your life. Exactly!
Oh, and I love how you pointed out the world isn't perfect, but it never stopped turning. Willow still has some hang-ups, obviously. She is stressed that she nearly lost Tara and she doesn't ever want to be that vulnerable again. (Still, a correspondence course on “the Deeper Magicks” is probably not the best way to hone her skills, lol.) Xander and Anya are still pushing themselves way too far, way too fast, and there is still likely to be fallout. Dawn is still Dawn, and Giles still has issues. Not everything is cotton candy fluffy, but it doesn't have to be. I love the moment that Buffy realizes that 'wrong' is in the eye of the beholder and that her happiness is important, too.[Report This]
If things had gone this way, we wouldn't have had the disastrous season 6.
I don't think it will come a day I'll be able to cope with all the issues of season 6, but that's me.
However, I love you story. Utterly believable Buffy's perspective.
She totally sounds like her.
Thanks! Glad it rang true for you.
You write such beautiful S6 fix-its! I want to wrap up this entire thing in a gigantic happy Spuffy hug. It is exactly what I might hope could happen sans resurrection - Willow not off the deep end, Spuffy affection not tinged in self-hatred, and everything dipped in acceptance and family. It's wonderful.[Report This]
First of all, I didn't realize this was you!! I checked out your stuff 'cause you left a review and then realized. Usernames, man.
Actual fic talk: This was really, really cute. It's the kinda thing I could easily see going down in S6 if Buffy hadn't died, with her still in denial but more open to talking about it and not quite as weighed down. I laughed out loud at some of the cuts ("At least this was just kissing"/"Okay so Buffy didn't ACTUALLY sleep with him"); you really got that ironic, TV-ish feeling down. And the talk with Willow was really nice.
I knowww, I wish I could change this username to fit with my others. I held onto the "Mix" component of an online nickname for a long time, until I lost touch with nearly everyone who'd ever called me that and I thought I could finally drop it.
And thank you so much!! I'm so glad you liked it. I'm a big sucker for happy AU S6 stuff, as much as I love the canon suffering.
That made me smile. It was funny all the way through and sweet at the end. I really like the idea that Buffy could trust her feelings and not care what others might think. Willow's advice was great. That was a lovely exploration of what might have happened between them if the Scoobies weren't around to interfere.[Report This]
This was so good! You had Buffy's voice down perfectly, and all her little denial mind-games, too! So funny! Your word-play with the word "friendliness" had me laughing out loud! (Oh Buffy! You are the queen of denial!)
It was nice to see Willow being her best friend again. I think if Buffy had been able to get past her fear of rejection by her friends, Willow would have stepped-up and been there for her.
Thanks for sharing! I loved the happy Spuffy ending!
Awwww! That was so sweet to have non-judgemental Willow remind her that she has the right to make her own decisions! (Also, loved the buildup in the beginning with the "nope, not gonna happen again."....thought process. So Buffy!)
Yay for giving it a shot at the end!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed!
Really loved this so much! I wish at least her girlfriends had made this clear to her. She shouldn't have cared what they thought but since she did (or at least she did after the whole Angel/Angelus disaster) it would have saved everyone so much pain if she had the green light. Spike had earned it in canon during the Glory battle and that summer after and in this story even if Buffy didn't die he earned it in a different way.
Thank you so much! Absolutely, and I think regardless Buffy shouldn't have had to worry about them disapproving. Unfortunately...
I always thought that since she was so strong in supporting her romance with Angel even in spite of comments from Giles and Xander only to have them "proven right" she put more weight on their opinions from then on. She stuck by her guns and people died and so she lost all confidence in her own evaluation regarding her love life. She didn't really see how different Spike was from Angelus chalking up any differences to the chip. She needed to stop taking all the blame (or letting the others imply it was hers to take) for Angelus but that takes maturity.
They all judged Spike through the lens of Angelus and never saw the real individual at all.
Not that she was planning on being eaten any time soon. - *giggles*
that gross and totally unsexy smirk - Oh, yeah right, Buffy. You protest too much.
Gahhh, how Buffy's "friendliness" followed by excuses and running off must make Spike ache. I can practically feel it on his behalf.
Yay for the warm fuzzy ending! *swoons*
I'm glad you liked it! :D
Not like, LOVE!
Big, huge, love!!
I have the biggest dose of the feels right now.
It was good, following how their relationship evolved. Buffy was of course clinging to some denile. She needed that little talk with Willow, hearing someone say that it's okey to feel this way, it's her life.
This ended well and had a good feeling to it, nice story.
Thank you! :)
