Someone should have killed Angel. He freaking killed Buffy. And Giles is more concerned about Buffy being a new camp than the camp that killed her?! Wow. Fucked up logic Giles.
Alas, Angel is very much still alive... but it gets better. :) . Thanks for reading.
I really liked this story. Usually I don't like vampBuffy, because often this kind of stories are too dark. But this was well written and intriguing.
Thanks. I'm not usually a fan of vamp Buffy either, and my only other one (besides the sequel to this) is pretty dark and angsty. But this one worked for me because it was as fluffy as it could be given the circumstances. I'm glad you liked it. :)
I thought I'd hate a vampire Buffy story but I liked that one. So disappointed in Buffy that her first thought was to defend Angel when he was the one who killed her!
I'm not a fan of vamp Buffy myself, but it was an experiment. There's a sequel - Born to Be My Baby that goes more into how she learns to handle it.
Nicely nuanced. I could imagine Joyce doing this in a moment of desperation, and that Buffy would try to keep seeming and being herself while sorting out everything that's happened. I also imagine she's not done with dealing with it, given her already human habit of walling off feelings to deal with them indirectly and through "acceptable" scapegoats. Everyone else's reactions seemed true to character, also. Intriguing... :)
Thank you. My take on "vamp Buffy". Hope you are still intrigued by the sequel. :)
Spike probably would have trouble saying no to Joyce and he would have missed Buffy. Spike has changed sooner and Buffy is dealing a bit to well with this. It have to be like that in order for the story to work and not have so much angst though. This must have reminded Xander about Jesse but he took it well it seems.
This could have been a very angst filled story but instead it's nice. It was good to read again.
Thanks. Yes, it's obviously a potentially angsty situation (having your watcher try to stake you is a bit sad...) Xander can be comforted by the thought that Buffy, being a slayer, kept her soul - so not as much like Jesse?
I wonder what Joyce would have done in that situation. In canon it was probably too early for her to have trusted Spike and be willing to have Buffy as a vamp. It doesn't bother me in the story. I was just thinking.
I do have one issue. I ran into this yesterday as well. You are posting stories that are essentially a series but they are being posted as separate completed stories. I've been getting really confused about which go together and what order to read them in. When I finished this and it said "the end" I didn't realize there was a follow up also posted.
Is there a way you could post these as a series or one long story with chapters/sections. I don't want to miss out but I am having trouble following. Maybe I'm the only one who is getting lost here.
I believe (I'll double check) that the site requires at least three stories to be considered a series. So, the four series that I've posted so far are all listed under "Series" (I'm not sure how that looks from your viewpoint - I see them as separate groups, all together and in order). However, it's true that many of my stories go on to have a sequel, so I'll try to be aware of that when posting. There will either be something in the summary or the author's notes. Or maybe in the ending notes? I'll try to be more aware of that in the future. Thanks for the heads up. :)
Ok, I see what you are saying. I was just coming across them on the recent stories page, I hadn't approached them by clicking on the series to view them that way. That's why I was getting confused. I came across them on that page first. Thanks for clearing that up for me!
I should probably edit the AN of any story that is part of a series or has a sequel/prequel so that readers can know immediately if there is something that precedes or follows it. Thanks for pointing out the possible issues.
With a soft spot for mothers, of course Spike couldn't refuse Joyce; he has such a tender heart. I want to just slap the hell out of Giles and stomp on his toes! And glory hallelujah that Buffy didn't buy Angel's giant load of crap - Angel and his typical manipulative B.S. I've read other fics where Buffy becomes a vampire and I don't like them much ...... but I think I might like your version - I do, so far. Looking forward to reading Born to Be My Baby.
I hope you like it. :) I'm not a big fan of vampBuffy, so mine is likely to be a bit different. :)
