I enjoyed this! It felt very true to who they were in S6. I love Spike being a regular library user haha.
Thank you so much! 😊
Yeah, in my headcanon Spike is totally a regular library user. I imagine it’s a holdover from his former life.
A library settin, I like that. We can see the typical state of mind for seson 6. Buffy has her depression, Spike has the ability to irritate her a lot but at the same time he makes her feel alive. We can also see that Buffy do have a thing for public sex.
I'm glad you liked the setting. I was working at a public library when I started writing this, so that was my inspiration. And no, no one like Spike ever came in and pushed me up against the stacks. *sigh*
The library would have been a far better job than the Doublemeat, even though Buffy isn't exactly what you might term a book-lover. Warm and dry with a generally more pleasant type of patron than the Doublemeat, and no grease traps or nasty smells.
Typical Buffy reaction for S6, she dismisses Spike's reading choices so casually. She could at least have shown some interest.
Intriguing that Spike is so well known there (as Mr Harris! ) so it's clear he didn't go there only to see if he could have quality time with Buffy. No doubt he'll be back, despite the bop to the nose...
I'm sure Spike is an avid reader and probably a regular visitor to the library. Why not? He has nothing else to do during the day. Why not charm some librarians and read a few books?
Congrats on finishing your story!
I really enjoyed it. And, I appreciated that you kept the tone and feeling of Season 6. Also, excellent voices on Buffy and Spike. No fluffy Buffy here; she's still struggling with having been brought back from the dead and the loss of Heaven. (And, the suck-fest that is her life, now.) She's also trying to deal with her dark, conflicted feelings for Spike. I thought this was very well written.
I liked the idea of the library setting. I thought it was funny that Buffy was so surprised that Spike reads. (Oh, Buffy! There is so much you don't know about William.)
Thank you. I had started this story so long ago that I really didn't think I would ever finish it. Actually, this is the first Spuffy fic I've written in over five years, so I didn't really know if I'd ever even write Spuffy again. I'm glad I did. I was concerned at first that I might have lost their voices after so much time. It's nice to know that I didn't. And yes, Buffy really doesn't know just how deep and complicated William is. Thankfully, we do. :)
Loved it any chance of more? Xxxx
I think this one is going to stay a one-shot. I can't imagine what else I could do with it, other than having Spike come back another day and actually get Buffy fired. ;)
Yay, the Buffy the librarian story! Glad you posted it here. :) And congrats again on finishing it!
Thank you. I honestly didn't think I would finish it.
I'm happy to be posting here. I had completely forgotten about this site until another member sent me a private message on Fanfiction.net suggesting I post here. I'm so glad I did! It's nice to find an active community of Spuffy shippers so many years after the fact. :)
What a way to celebrate 10 years (plus) of Spuffy. Of course Spike would charm any librarian with his swagger and love of the classics. Working in a library would've been only slightly better than smelling like fried grease, but knowing the show there would've been an evil book with an equally evil demon out looking for it
I love the evil book idea! I could totally see that working. Maybe the library doesn't have to be such a boring place after all. ;)
Oh Buffy he had soooooo much more to offer if you were only ready to understand it.
Thank you! And I agree, Buffy didn't appreciate Spike the way she should have back then. If only she had been open to it, things could have been a lot different.
that is kinda sad, especially since we all know she is going to be working at the double-meat palace before too long.
The library has to be better than fast food no matter how mind numbing the zap and place. At least it smells like books and not grease.
Yes, I think the library is way better than the Doublmeat Palace. I'm sorry Buffy ever ended up there. I understand why the writers had her work at the Doublemeat Palace, from a storytelling standpoint, but I still always thought it was beneath her.
I've read a lot of S6 fics, but I've never seen one set in a library before. I like the setting, I like that Spike's a reader and it is such a better job for Buffy than Doublemear palace. Boring, yes, but much less demeaning.
The two of them together in the stacks was hot. And this line made me shiver: it was a dangerous thing to let a vampire taste your blood.
And of course I was sad when Buffy pushed him away. Typical of her, but no less devastating.
Thanks for this. It was very unique.
This story was stuck in my head for so long that I just got used to the idea of Buffy working in a library, so it never occured to me than anyone might find it unique. That's a great compliment! Thank you. Personally, I've always thought that Spike was smarter than people gave him credit for. He grew up in Victorian England. He probably had a proper, middle class, Victorian education, which means he had to have been well-read. I can't see him losing his love of words just because he became a vampire.
