That slow burn was wonderful. And respecting boundaries because Buffy is young yet still exploring insecurities???Perfect! Loved the progression of Buffy’s slayerness as well as her relationship with Spike. I thought your twists on canon were interesting (Jesse!!!) and it was great to see Spike around for the shenanigans of season one. I saw that one of your comments mentioned that at one point there was a planned sequel (👀🔥) but even if that never happens I’m thankful for what you gave us in this piece. Great job![Report This]
really loved this au! and gah you left so many things without resolution! i hope this means you've planned a sequel for the future?
Happy you enjoyed it! I did plan to write a sequel for this one (and had even started work on a banner at one point), but then I ended up participating in some of the Challenge Month stuff here and never came back to it. I do still have my notes, though, so you never know. I might decide to revisit this 'verse one day.
Love your story! I’ve been reading alot of fanfictions for the last 20 years, yours is easily one of the better ones! I’m especially since I was able to download it into a epub file, I hope it’s okey that I plan to keep it on my phone/PC for eternity ;) I might re-read this one. And i never do that lol!
Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I really like the epub feature here, too. :)
I enjoyed your story, I like the way Spike was in life from the start of her calling and how the powers kept the council out.
Thank you, and thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment.
Thank you so very much for this fic. I enjoyed so many things from it. Especially the changes from the episodes.
You're welcome! Thanks so much for your kind words and for taking the time to review. :) I'm glad you enjoyed the story!
Rereading this story, it comes to mind how relentless Buffy's task is. It keeps coming at her machine gun style. No wonder slayers have a death wish. Your story illustrates how crucial to her survival, and sanity, her friends and accomplices are. How else would she find the will to persevere?
Love this story, thank you for all the effort you put into it. It's simply beautiful.
Yes, exactly, and I think that's what made her such a compelling character. She was just so young and had all of this responsibility placed on her. I remember Kendra (and even Spike) questioning a slayer with friends in canon, but that's what set her apart from the rest of them.
Thank you so much for your kinds words.
Sorry, *kind words. Was replying to this on my phone. :)
Well this was a treat of a story! I enjoyed it so much. It took me several days to read it all but i guess stories like that are the best :) Thank you so much for writing it and answering a challenge in the same time. Fanfiction writers like you have a special place in heaven, i am sure :)
I am sure i will come back for more of your stories!
Thank you very much for your kind words. I'm so glad you liked the story!
wish I could be one of those "great reviewers" unfortunately I'm not so mostly it's along of the lines of "great job and I am enjoying your work very much." Do like what you have done with Buffy and her family life - Kudos on the absurd "Go Team, right?" as he exits.
That's okay! It sometimes takes me a while to say what I want to in a review, and even then I spend time worrying about how I said it.
Great job with your use of the series events - just enough for your readers to have the series and your story combine - all in a good way. Very Nice treatment of your Buffy at this period.
Thank you so much. I'm glad you're still enjoying it!
NICE - it's really good having Buffy's history pre-Sunnydale presented. Even if we know that the family was going through a crisis and divorce coming in their future, having their history in LA makes for something different. Excellent treatment for Joyce as the emotionally stress out mother to coincide with her daughter's own emotional pain.
That was one of the things that drew me to this challenge. I loved being able to write about a part of Buffy's life that's so rarely explored in fics.
Amazing story, I stayed up a lot later then I should have done on a couple of nights 'cos I just couldn't make myself stop reading, you know the thing 'just one more chapter then I'll sleep' lol.
Loved following the progress of our favourite couple from the beginning in LA and, if that last paragraph is anything to go by, they have more trouble heading their way. Hope this means there's going to be a sequel.
Thank you very much. This review really made me smile today! And I know what you mean. I have come across some fics here that I just get so caught up in that it's hard to put them aside.
Yes, there's trouble coming. I'm actually in the process of updating the banner I made for the sequel and I do have some of chapter one done already.
Thank you for reading and reviewing!
Really good. I look forward to the next one.
I do have a question though. How did Spike get beat up by Darla's crew if he has the gem?
From my own understanding regarding the Gem of Amara, I assumed it only prevented a vamp from burning up in the sun or turning to ash after getting staked. At least, that was how I decided to have it in this verse, so it won't be exactly like it was on the show. Hope this helps to explain things a bit.
Although, I think it gets a bit tricky there, because after looking at the wiki page just now, it states that we also don't know what would happen if a vamp was decapitated while wearing it.
I'm glad you enjoyed the story, though.
Wonderful story! Kept me hooked the whole time and I thoroughly enjoyed every word! Makes me wish your version of the entire series was available! :D
Thank you so much for writing this!!
Thank you very much! I'm actually planning a sequel that will cover season 2 and 3, but I'd like to have a a few chapters done before I start posting it.
You're welcome. Thanks for reading!
