This was truely beautiful! I loved it and I'm kinda sad that it ended there. Even though it was a perfect place to end it. I wish this is how it could of really happened. He will make her crazy happy! You did a great job here. Thanks for sharing with us![Report This]
"without his drugs, Riley’s weak. But unlike Xander, he doesn’t want to believe that"
For all Xander isn't my favourite character, YES, THIS. At least Xander doesn't endanger others because he thinks he's a superhero. (I mean, he endangers them in other ways now and then, but he's more or less resigned to being the butt monkey from relatively early on; Riley is old enough to have zero excuse.)
“No. It was never your fault; they’re just a couple of wankers who didn’t know a good thing when they had it.” He gently strokes my hair as he leads me towards the couch to sit down. “Besides, I happen to know a bloke – a handsome one, if I say so myself – who was evil. But he turned good ‘cause of you. And that’s something to be proud of.”
I think it goes double for Angel, but yeah, he and Riley pretty much specialised in making her insecure instead of letting her feel loved.[Report This]
I love stories in Buffy's point of view, and you do it wonderfully. Love the overview of all my favorite episodes but better! I absolutely hated riley and your story is a much better version of events. The ending with it being a date was really cute.[Report This]
This is excellent! I love the way that you changed things while leaving so much of canon in as well. I always wished that Buffy'd taken more time to just be alone with herself to figure out what she wanted, and I love the way that you allowed her to do that while letting Spike creep into her heart. Sigh. Beautifully done![Report This]
Cute way you made one little phrase alter so much in the storyline. Nicely done and it leaves a very open ended framework for us to think about how it changes things in the future (and really, how will the Dru interaction go if the Sunshine has already staked its claim of interest).[Report This]
Okay, I just adored this fic. I've had it bookmarked for months now and seriously feel like kicking myself because I didn't read it sooner. I was completed glued to it from start to finish just waiting to see how everything would unfold. I have to say that I really do love how you went about season 5 here. I always felt that Riley overstayed his welcome and should have been gone much sooner, so I really liked the way you handled that. I didn't even mind that he became a vamp when all was said and done, because it seemed quite fitting for him considering all that had happened.
But the part that really touched my heart was when Buffy broke the plate and Spike helped and took care of her injury. Such a great part! I also enjoyed your take on the scene from "Fool For Love" where Buffy's sitting outside on the porch and Spike approaches with the gun. That was just so moving. Having Spike there when Joyce was going through everything with her health was nice too.
And you know, if it's one thing I never quite got on the show, it was that Xander was dating Anya and seemed to find no fault in it, yet he always seemed to have an opinion ready for Buffy regarding her love life. Always bugged me.
The date stuff towards the end was wonderfully written too.
Thanks so much for writing this!
Thanks so much for the review. The broken plate scene was one of my favourites to write.
