Great characterizations! Xanders point would mean more if they hadn't turned around and kicked her out later in the season.

Beautiful ! As much as I despise Xander, I love fics where he finally grows up and be a true friend to Buffy; and you truly nailed that.

This is so lovely 💜 Wonderful characterisation and growth, so much feels.
Thank you 💙

This was such great insight into Buffy and her emotions.

These quiet dissection moments are a large part of why I read fanfiction. Keep up the great work!
Thanks so much! I'm no longer really writing for Buffy, but I'm thrilled that people are still reading my stuff.
Season seven Xander had amazing moments... this fits in perfectly.

Oh I wish this had happened! At times in S7 it looked like Xander (and maybe Willow too when she wasn't either self absorbed or being emotionally overpowered by Kennedy) was getting to this point. I was upset by them siding with Wood/Giles/the mutiny of Potentials to toss her out of leadership and her home since it had looked like they were actually reaching this point of maturity.
Lovely things said here and he is totally right in all of them. She would have been so much stronger had one of them actually supported her in this way.

So wish this had been a scene. It builds on when Anya and Willow are nagging at Xander about staying in the "Spike's evil camp" why he ignores them and keeps fixing his window.

That was sweet :) I love grown up, best friend Xander and you wrote him perfectly. Thank you!

Lovely.
Thanks very much.
Thanks!
I'm glad that Xander got some love here. He can be ridiculous and callous, but I like him best when he's a good friend and a wise man. Very touching.
Author's Response:
I've come to a conclusion that Buffy was forced to grow up at the end of Season 2 when she had to choose the world and her duty over protecting the guy she loved. The other two original Scoobies never faced the same kind of heartache or loss until the end of Season 6. So Season 7 Xander is finally growing up (he still fails ith the whole kick-Buffy-out-of-her-house thing) and I wanted this fic to reflect that.
He's a lot easier to write when he's someone I can respect and admire.

Holy crap, I cried.
I actually kinda liked season 7 Xander where I was hard pressed to like him much from season 3 on. If Xander had matured to this point during the show, I think I would have loved him. (you know as a character, heh.)
P.S. His speech to Dawn in Potential, was actually pretty damn epic.
Author's Response: So glad you enjoyed!

you manage to write a mature, respectful, loveable, Xander better than almost any other I've ever seen. Thank you for making him so likeable.
Author's Response: Thanks! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy reading him as the designated jerk sometimes - but I'm not sure there were ever any truly despicable characters on Buffy and I can't see myself writing them that way anytime soon. On the other hand, you'll note I've never (yet) written any Xander earlier than Season 7... :)

Well done, this is a good Xander who understands her.
Author's Response: I got the idea while reading another story - in that one, Buffy was hearing about how Xander saved the world, and somehow the idea struck me for this.

Excellent.
Author's Response: Many thanks!

This was lovely. I had to stop and start a few times due to sniffles and tears. This scene needs to be canon! Thank you for posting it :)
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I wasn't expecting that strong a response. So glad you enjoyed.

I don't care what Whedon says. This happened. What a lovely Xander and Buffy scene. Xander really did make so many strides forward in his maturity in season seven.
Author's Response: Yay! I've entered someone's head-canon! That is like the ultimate compliment. Thanks so much.

I really liked this story. It's nice to see Xander as much more than a bigoted scapegoat as so many stories portray him.
Author's Response: I agree. Even though he's not my favorite character, and there are times when I really enjoy him being written as the Designated Ass, I can't seem to let myself write him that way. It's too one-dimensional, or something. I'm glad you enjoyed... and if you want to see more like this, check out any of my other fics. I portray him pretty much the same way in anything S7 or post-series (which right now is what all my stories are, but I might go earlier with some other ideas I have). Glad you enjoyed!

It's nice to see Xander treated so well. Nice to see him be 'the one who sees everything'.
Author's Response: Yeah, for some reason, even though he's not my favorite character, I just can't seem to write him as the Designated Ass the way he appears in so many fics. Probably because so far I've limited myself to Season 7 and post-series stuff, so that I can showcase his maturity rather than his thickheadedness, but oh well. Glad you liked!

I really enjoyed this. I wish this was something that could've happened during Season 7. Good job
Author's Response: Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed.
