Wow! I just spent way too much of my time the past few days binge-reading this! First of all, thank you for writing something this involved and intricate. I loved it!! I so appreciated the angsty beginning--it made the end that much more satisfactory. I appreciated the exploration of a side of Spike that I think is often ignored because it isn't pretty. But I love Spike as a character, including the not-so-good parts, it's what makes him one of the most fascinating fictional characters to me. I'm really glad to have the opportunity to read a story that embraces both sides of what makes him so interesting, yet still followed through to get to the good Spuffy stuff.[Report This]
I'm sorry but Angelus was the Aurelian who reveled in rape and torture-not Spike. Even as he killed Slayers, he did so because he respected them as Fellow Warriors. He would Never cheat to beat a Slayer...drugging her? Again, the kind of thing Angelus would do.
The Chip was never what made Spike decide to go White Hat-the Chip was like a forced Methadone Program. It did nothing but cause resentment. Spike made a conscious choice to continue on the Path of Buffy.
The one time Spike got close to even thinking about hurting Buffy in a personal way he immediately went to Africa to fight tooth and nail for his Soul.
I know you gave warnings in the preludes...but this just isn't Spike-evil or not. This story is so far afield I cannot finish it. Obviously you are a good writer. Perhaps you could create your own characters instead of taking such enormous liberties with established ones?
just a thought...[Report This]
