That was so good! The stuff betwixt Spike and Angel, Gunn's return, their decision to stay in Los Angeles. I really liked this story, thanks for the great read. So happy to have them back together! Him ordering her about was super hot, and I bet Buffy would really be into that since she has to be the boss of everything all the time.[Report This]
I just want to cry it is so good. They are flirting and crying and everything is just too much!! I like Ilyria and her relationship to Spike, how blunt and odd she is, lol. And the things she revealed to Buffy about Spike's talking of her. Brilliant![Report This]
SHE SAW SPIKE! DRU HAS HIM! OMG OMG OMG! And she almost got Gunn killed! I like that she had distanced herself from all of her friends, but now thanks to Spike she was wanting them to come back into her life. Poor Spike can never catch a break, either.[Report This]
Hahaha, oh the interplay between Gunn and Buffy is just too good. They are figuring so many things out! She has no relation to that coat and it was nothing but a tease. How dare the Immkrtal blow it up, that jerk! Buffy could have had his duster to hold onto, but no, he were being a poop. I can not wait for Spike to be found and reunited with his Slayer! I also found it hilarious that Spike made Gunn and Wesley listen to his letters to Buffy, lol. And he said he wrote her five when he had really written her over twenty, priceless![Report This]
Yay! Buffy and Angel argued, she got angry when he condescending to her, he admitted to caring about Spike, they had a tiny moment to mourn their past together. It was great! Stupid vampires. I really like Gunn, and I like Buffy's opinions of him. "Buffy needed to get over herself. She was getting too old for this shit." That was hilarious! She had hope, and I believe in her. Go get your man, Buffy![Report This]
Aww, Buffy and Willow are finally talking again! They are unified in their sorrows! Oh boy, when she finally let loose of that opinion she had been holding onto, it was so good! Buffy had two amazing ladies in her corner after the fact and had not even know it. I am so glad for her to have Wills back as a support system, people really do need those and she and Willow have shared so much. The line about Buffy going to L A every time she killed a boyfriend was hilarious! "“I don’t think we would have realized what we’d done if Spike hadn’t…he always knew how to put you in your place,” Dawn said with a crooked grin. “You should have heard the things he said to us.”" Yes Dawn, tell her what happened! Share fond memories of your good friend! She Buffy that you are in her side! I loved this line, how Dawn was soaking both about the moment and just about Spike in general. How Buffy got an insight into a moment she did not see, but was detremental to how the group thought of her in this last days. I mean, the leader they had forced in did kind of get them blown up, so... Yeah. Oh this was a good one, too.[Report This]
Dang it, Spike! Writting her a letter telling her that you are alive only for you to die! No way he is dead, he had just already left to go find Buffy before they went and looked for him. I love that Gunn told Buffy the last thing he saw the vampire doing: soothing his injury a bit and jumping right back in the thick of it. That is so him. I am glad she got to talk to Gunn at all! She did not have to talk to Angel and have him he a jerk about Spike it try to woo her at all, she got to talk to a stranger who knew how much Spike loved her, a man with empathy and sorrow. That was a really nice touch. "Because she knew Spike and he had a way of saying things that made her want to die from how well he loved her." Ugh, that line was gold. Yaaaas. His whole letter was freaking amazing! How he babbked and said that if she thought he could not stop talking wait until he got a pen in his hand, oh that was good. How he made excuses for himself but would turn right back around on this eexcuses and call himself a hypocrite. He was insecure and did not think she needed or wanted him, but then cursed himself for doing to same bad things all the men in Buffy's life had done for her! IT WAS SO GOOD. Oh, that letter just made my heart sing. And how she stormed past a talkative Willie and Dawn to go read it, how ready to cry she was, how she was not at all expecting what was really inside, it was all too much. It hurts in all of the best ways! I can not wait to read more, the plot on this first chapter was very good and very well written! The story really flowed, made me visualize everything so clearing and had me completely immersed in the story. Bravo![Report This]
I really enjoyed this short story! I loved the letter, and it was nice to see Buffy being so open to her feelins, and to have a snippet at the beginning of Willow being nice about Spike as well! I also thought the inclusion of Gunn was a nice touch as well 😁 x[Report This]
I think they would be better off there in LA. Sooner or later there would be an effort to pull them apart.
No one would keep tabs on her here, no one would try and change her mind, no one would plant seeds of doubt while simultaneously turning to her for every answer they couldn’t find. Everyone had developed the habit of second guessing Buffy in all areas and making her do the same herself. I don't think they'd change much.
This time they are both there together. Love that.
Fitting that it was an alley for them to reconnect. Alley's and basements really are their places for good and bad. Maybe now the good times will roll. Laissez les bon temps rouler!
Excellent. Enjoyed this re-read.
He DID feel unworthy after he got the soul. He lost that part of him that was certain of Buffy's feelings no matter what she said in words. His sense of self worthy bit the dust as well. With the soul he believed all those things she had been saying.
Their past had been surrounded with the use and misuse of sex to deal with whatever ailed them. It was a hell of a lot easier to fuck someone than it was to tell them how lonely you felt, how grateful you were that they existed. It was easier to let her get off than to beg her to explain. It was easier. Great insight here. That was the communication they used for everything. They needed to be more verbal along with it.
It was more the I love you that brought his orgasm than her hands I think.
Two weeks he’d been with a woman that he spent a century worshiping, only to have her ignore the hole inside him, the help she could have given him as his sire. Rather like the way she didn't take good care of him when he was in the wheel chair. Spike had just managed to get a cure for Dru yet she offered him a small dog???
Buffy needs more of that potent blood. Spike is going to need lots of it. Of course it hadn’t been enough.
Awww he expected her to be planning to reject him. He knows better now (unless he thinks she's a dream).
Glad he told her that he would have staked Dru himself. I think it did bother her that she had no choice but to dust his sire.
“You are so in for the lay of your life when you’re all healed,” Yeah I'll bet he is. He'll also be quite shocked by how much Buffy has grown and how important he is to her.
Spike lay motionless, unaware of her inner struggle, his body soaking up the blood from a being he’d been obsessed with killing for decades, fed to him by one he’d loved. If he had been awake, he no doubt would have been smiling at the irony, a million retorts twitching on his lips. Loved this.
Angel is so in character. He really does not get why there is anything wrong with the blood bank tapping into the new Slayers as a resource. Everything is sen through the prism of what is good for Angel.
And rescue happens just in the nick of time. Based on the description Spike wouldn't have lasted too much longer.
Made sense in the Dru world to use Tommy to "remove" their souls. She really had come completely off the spool. It was a mercy killing there. Dru couldn't continue that spiral down. There was no way to fix her.
Same with killing Tommy...he had no chance of being anything that could be permitted to continue.
I like what Buffy said about the mountain of gold. She does what she has to to stay alive and keep others alive. It doesn't change the fact that lives are lost, human or demon. It's killing even if there is a good reason for her killing, a necessity not a glory grab. But then “I never said that it couldn’t be fun.”
Not only were there a myriad of demons she’d never seen before, dead and decaying in knotted poses from screaming to the heavens for mercy; but there were people, too. People who were caught in the crossfire, people who hadn’t escaped in time. Angel CAUSED this. This apocalypse was started by HIM. Lives lost by him for a lot of reasons but none of them being because it had to happen. Seems that is often forgotten when NFA is thought about.
Nice using of the brain there Buffy!
Buffy built a wall around herself and Spike spent his last few years trying to climb over it. She’d just add another layer of bricks, and another, and another, until Spike was shut out completely. Yes that's what she did. She also made Spike start to doubt his ability to read her. He'd been so confident before the soul (and accurate) but her words never matched what he saw. Then when her words were (once again) "no" and he didn't believe them it led to disaster and he never believed what he saw again. Since she didn't do words...he was totally shut out and shut down.
“At what cost?” And NO ONE ever brings up that Angel lured Drogyn (said to be pure good) to LA just so he could kill him to prove he was on the side of evil and get in the Black Thorn! Never mentioned!
“What you don’t know about me I could just about fit into a book,” Well now that's the truth! Same goes the other way. There was no real love with no knowledge. Angel and Buffy didn't know one another so they couldn't love in reality.
It's good that she FINALLY knows that it is o.v.e.r. with Angel. He knows it too.
He had a lot of nerve to think that his created apocalypse was anything like the one the FE started in Sunnydale. Completely different beasts.
