Summary: Following the death of their mother, an eighteen-year-old Buffy and her younger sister Dawn take up residence in an apartment in New York City, trying to make ends meet with the money Joyce has left them. Buffy volunteers at a bookstore in the hope of getting hired full time, and is employed as an elf at the mall during the busy holiday shopping season. One night, while walking home, she stumbles upon a man who's been badly beaten outside of her apartment building...only to discover that he's not really a man at all. Not an All Human (AH).
