OK, I’ve had a few comments about Buffy being so anti-Spike. I agree she is acting a bit more like the post-Angelus/series five/six Buffy than her canon placement here. Right now, she’s finding it harder to see Spike as much more than the reason’s William is no longer alive. Kind of like how Giles explained vampires to Xander back in The Harvest: “When you look at Jesse, you’re not looking at your friend – you’re looking at the thing that killed him”. Also, the fact that she knows about the Slayers he’s already killed has made her more up the paranoid end of the wary spectrum, especially after Angel’s insistence that Spike must be here to kill her. And, of course, she hasn’t had a chance to get to know how vamp Spike thinks yet – she still has no idea how much of William still resides in his emotions. Does that make more sense now? Maybe I should re-write one of these chapters at some point and make the explanation more detailed, although it seems to be okay for most readers.
